After reading the student manual it looks like the spindle has a MT-3 taper. The collets specified are "6K" with the appropriate adaptors.

Hello:
I too have just acquired a Magnaturn 612. Do either of you have any collets and the drive rings/adaptors for this machine? Not sure if I am getting any manuals yet.
Rick
Thanks, Hoss, will give it a try there.

I guess no one has heard of this mill.

I am considering buying a Sieg KX1 mill. Does anyone on the forum have any experience with these machines? Is there anyone in New England with one of these machines that I might talk to regarding...
Here is a link to another idea. The builder has done quite a high end job with this project. It is a long read but worth it.

Not to rain on your parade but there are several people making that product.
Here is one example: ...
Looks like quite a stout build. I realize this is late in the discussion, but you might want to look here: http://www.mechmate.com/ for ideas on parts of the project still in limbo.
Good luck,...
I too would be interested in any face plates or chuck adapter plates you might not want. A taper attachment would be of interest too!

You might want to consider using some 2 part epoxy paint at minimum on the interior and edges of the plywood before it gets soaked by coolant.
Nice design!

You might try an auxillary spindle attached to the head. Check the Tormach website for an accessory to their mill for an example. Wigitmaster has a thread here:...
I have been pricing components for a J-1 Bridgeport conversion too. Here is what Elrod quoted:
x-y bracket $1166
Ballscrews $1756
Ballscrew Yoke ...
Very nice idea, looks good too.

Greetings:
I am considering converting my J-1 Bridgeport mill to cnc. My preference is to use a proven "kit" from one of the many companies providing this service. It seems that the prices and...
You might try a water or waste water tank at your local boating store. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

Hello:
I would be interested in your machine, I am in RI and would be able to pick it up. Once you decide on a price please post it.

I have read the older threads asking about the DM 45. Does anyone else have any comments, experience or input about this machine? I am considering the DM 45, Tromach, Smithy and IH mills.

Ajac CNC makes a mill that seems to be in a similar class with the Tormach or IH mills. Not exactly a bench top mill but a big bench top mill on a base.

I just found this thread and can't help noticing that there is no comment on the Ajax CNC mill. Any one have one or is it a real dog?
