This blog or forum is really to help out people with IH mills, with assembly and to answer any questions a person that has not purchased a IH mill might have. If you want machining technique or...

You do have some interesting experience. Did you ever work as a machinist? I agree that there are a lot of machinist out there that have really no way of knowing how accurate there...
Where in your experience have you found that a single point cutting tool produces an unbalanced cutting force.
A single point tool is the only tool to use. I have bored 3 inch holes in...
The IH mill has 20 inches of z travel with out using the quil. I don't see a problem with boring a big block ford. ;)

Thanks for the words of wisdom. It is very funny that you mention crickets and the sound they make. I am taking care of a friends toad for the summer who eats crickets. So around my house crickets...
Which is it. You really don't know? Does it really matter to you? Or is this a game.
You adjust the gibbs for minor wear and you scrape when the accuracy of the machine has become unacceptable. ...
No thanks
I have seen cnc machines that are worn out in the middle of there travel because the majority of work is done in the middle of the travel. Liner guilds do wear out in the same pattern as do vee ways....
When linear guides are new they are very accurate but, as they age the become lose and are not adjustable.
I have a 1963 Lagun FT2. If this mill was equipped with linear guides it would have...

Thank you very much. :)

Hey thanks for the info. It is very interesting. You made a conversion plate to convert the metric spindle motor to a standard spindle motor on a IH mill. Did you ever make a drawing for it ? Maybe a...
That is a manual machine. (?) I think you are talking about the cnc version.

Hey deon
After doing some research I was off base with that comment. Sorry :) Can you separate the mill from the stand. The reason that I ask is the stand is cast (?) and the rep from Mikini said...
What is the weight of the machine with out the cast stand? Does this machine have ways (ie dove tail ways)?
Evan
No dove tail ways ????? No ways period???
If I read the web site correctly they are using linear guides. I would worry about the longevity, rigidity and accuracy. (when you are pushing the...
Have you noticed any foaming in the oil running @ 1500 + rpm say for an hour. I have wanted to use a red line product but chickened out and bought Mobil Velocite Oil #10
Evan
Yea that cylindrical square sure makes checking the perpindicularity easy. :)

I am sorry about the "Tormach Bashing (????)". I was stating a fact about another mill and I got a little loud. I just thought it was cool to know that some of the profit is going to an...
