I have an offline height gauge, but I was looking to convert to using an ETS. It seems like an oversight that they don’t have a method for handling a dial indicator or Haimer.

Okay, I see. Do it referenced to a surface, not the tool setter.

Electronic tool setter and touch tool

Hello peeps. I'm feeling a bit dumb at the moment.

I just wired up a home-brew electronic tool setter. But I ran across a problem with the height routine in PP. I use a tormach dial indictor...

    Re: Flood coolant dermatitis

It went well. I've moved onto a fogbuster, using koolmist. Just much better than flood coolant. And koolmist is great for minimum quantity lubricant.
But if I was running flood, I'd still use...
  5. Is your center of working envelope not center of table?

So I recently picked up some of the inexpensive Tormach fixture plates for my Series 1 1100.
Now, I always knew that on my machine, the Y travel hung off the front of the table. I expected the...

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

It's there for me. Can't use it on some operations, but should be there for roughing.

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

Thanks. I looked closer today, and all 8 cores had maybe 10-20% utilization during calculations.

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

So I finally got SC8 up and running, after eventually determining that the dongle was bad.
I've spent a little time on it, and like it so far. However, it only seems to be using 1 core for tool...

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

What Eric told me today, was that when they release SC9 to us, since I just purchased 8, it will be the same cost to go 7-8-9 as it will be to go 7-9.
I bought the upgrade, but still can't get the...

    Re: Remeber your first

Yup, very true. But, I think your said your seat of GibbsCam cost $18k? I'd really love an option more user friendly than Sprut, but power per $ it's hard to beat. Which is why we all put up with it....

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

    :-) Oh joy...
Then again, SC8 had so many problems when it first came out, I've been reluctant to upgrade until now, when it seems stable enough.

    Re: Sprut7 precision

Thanks for the thoughts. On your strange results, try paying close attention to the remaining stock. An easy way to do this is under the passes, click on stock (auto-remaining form previous...

    Re: Sprut7 precision

Thanks. I've found that some projects have 1-e5 for axis precision even on the tormach machine definition. But, the XML file for the tormach definition has 1-e3 in it. So the value is getting altered...

    Re: Sprut7 precision

5 or 6 is about max for Sprut. But, I should note, this doesn't affect the generated tool path much. This affects how accurate it generates the remaining material after one pass, which is used for...

    Re: Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

Well, that's good to hear. And I should note, that it doesn't crash per se, but things stop working right, and I need to exit and open it again. Not generating tool paths, generating wrong tool...

    Sprut7 precision

    Just FYI

So I'm doing a lot of work recently which requires very accurate, tiny tool paths. Using a 0.03" EM. I was finding that sprut was generating rest material (part material) which was...

    Sprut8 worth the upgrade?

I'm using 7, latest build. I do complicated, very small precision parts. I deal with Sprut crashing a lot. I get very tired of this. Has anybody upgraded to Sprut8? Does it show ANY signs of...

    Re: 3d space navigator device

I use one on Sprut7. I love it. However, in Sprut7, it wants to rotate on the center between the tool and the part, not the center of the part, no matter WHAT option you have selected. :-(

    Re: JT1 vs. JT2 vs. JT6 vs. JT33

The jaws of the chuck have flats on them, to press against the drill bit. On larger chucks, the flat is larger. A larger flat means that that it can't grip a small bit, since they don't all come...

Re: Which Speed and Feed to trust?!?!?!
