There are three types of turret indexing on Miyanos.
1. Older machines use a hydraulic valve and geneva mechanism.
2. Fuji drive and motor.
3. Fanuc servo drive.
All three have different means...
Here is what I would do and I see this problem a lot.
Take the rear cover off the turret and what should happen is :
When you index the turret you will see the motor turn until it see the marker...
If you are trying to back up to a memory card and the sram data has a parity error you must use the serial port.
Then restore the file from the port and should solve the issue.
Another couple of thoughts, if you have a "not ready" that is really an E-Stop condition.
If the machine is up and running (hydraulic unit etc) and you hit the turret index button and the alarm...

There is a spring under the motor that makes the arm go up.
On a service call a few weeks ago I found one that somehow slipped out of the retainer slot.

use a standard null modem cable, I use the same one I use on Fanuc

I use XP all the time on Num controls as we are an OEM with Num.
What control?? 1040 series? and are you using com1 or Ser 1?
