why thread the wood ? route a opening that allows access to the threads and use the outside part of a screw on lid to be a nut . you may have to use a metal or fiber washer under the nut .

before cnc routers. there was the plastic incra gauge . it is accurate to a 1/32" and repeatable to that 1/32" inch . i believe it is also made in a metric version . look at their web site incra.com...
