    Re: MadeInTheShed's Steel build

Been having so much fun making "flat" stuff lately, thought it was about time to try a 4th axis. Found a nice reduction drive, just need to finish making some adapters for the motor and various wood...

I ended up making new magnet holders from aluminium so I could recess the nuts so they would be below the magnet. I couldn't do this with the acrylic as it would have cracked when tightening.

Thanks, nice detailed reply. I may be able to get the sensors closer to the magnets, I just chucked em on and they worked. I have allowed adjustment slots so will be easy to do this. I'm not using...

Re: Diy- Build Router In 10 Days

    Hi,
In post 522 you show a picture of a fish platter. Would you be willing to share the dxf file of this?
  9. Re: New Dual Lead Screw 3 Axis Cnc Router Build

I would go with the first one. Has more clearance around the cutting tool if you need to drop it down inside something (motor mount plate not going to get in the way). You also keep the gantry lower...

Re: Big Bamboo - New Machine Project Started

Im still waiting for my "lolipop" bits to arrive. Ive managed to source some ball bearings of different sizes (got one of the apprentce technicians to crack open some old gearbox ball races)....

No, that would be too easy!
  21. Lubricating linear bearings (supported rails)

Has any one worked out a way to efficiently lubricate the bearings that run on supported rails?
Yes, I can always remove them and repack and reinstall, but this can be a bit of a pain.
