an upgrade to 2019 is more of a downgrade in my eyes
First thing that came to mind when I saw your post was they won't make it easy for you if your not on maintenance . X5 will be considered an...
depends upon the application and the parts being machined at the time
what sized end mills are you planning to use
it would have to be an extremely bad gouge to cause any problems . If the grinder says it's good then I'd take their word for it .
I've worked on a couple mills over the years that had a lot of...
Haas site has pdf's . 93 is as far back as they go on their site . I doubt much if anything changed in those 3 years ...
it looks like the problem is resolved with the mill which is good because getting a new spare driver has proven to be troublesome in itself . To save a few bux I ordered from keling on ebay . The...
best low cost options are linuxcnc , pathpilot or ucnc , I'd lean towards the first 2
Chances are that the sale value that you'll gain by putting in the effort will be minimal if existent .
I'm...
anyone that bought at that price has or can sell for more than originally paid , especially since the tormachs hold their value so well . I see them come up on the local market and I'm surprised by...
High end of tormach prototyping or institution mill thats built in china , is the feeling I get from it . Like most guys the sky is the limit when it comes to my hobbies , that is until reality sets...
honestly i made a mistake as i was glossing over your reply . i thought you said haas in general are the standard to compare to and not mini mill itself .
Once running into the higher prices then...
I wouldn't call them a standard . they are compared to because they are the lowest cost entry level industrial machines . In a lot of heavy fields they are refereed to as junk . Similarly tormach...
totally understandable . I production run 440's and others in a small 1000 sqf shop with somewhat limited power . A separate line to the shop would have been ideal . Worst case if a mill is shot I...
haas does get a guy on the options but a base super mini with 10k rpm and rigid tapping is 47k and high speed is another $3500 . The 1500 is 43k assembled . I know it's comparing apples to oranges...
nice looking setup and through spindle coolant is a wise option to have added , except I'd have expected cat40 . I hope the do well with them but for the same price a guy can buy a super mini
it's good that you've been able to narrow down the issue , the fact that a 1/8 bit can cause that sort of problem indicated a bigger problem . The 570oz motors have plenty of force with ballscrews...
a 1/8 cutter shouldn't cause those motors to lose steps , the cutter should snap long before that happens
non related anything I've posted here but the work thats gone into this is pretty wild . Maybe a future retirement project just for fun

I find the connectors on my torus pro drivers break down over time . They'll fry the drivers If i don't change them out every so often . I'm guessing the 1100's get enough power at the drives to do...
the mill seems to be back to normal aside from the need to put it back together . I air cut for a few hours last night and the mill is behaving
The more I think about it the loose connection at...
I don't see it as being an issue from the power company because this has been over a week and the other mills have been running without a hiccup . This mill and another have been running off the same...
the 570 motors are capable of a fair amount of force and unless your taking seriously heavy cuts then I doubt the problem is your motor.
I suggest plunging your bit into some scrap at the start...
the mx has 3 drivers and a top board that they connect to . The top board works as a breakout board ,, this is the one that keeps blowing .
I could gut the mill and add all new drivers and all that...
that was pretty short lived . Blown up again . Time to start tracing wires .
I checked the surface mount fuses on the other boards and they are good , so it's a bit deeper of an issue that keeps...
there are a couple surface mounted fuses on the main board of these drivers . I'll have to do some playing around but my guess is that one of them popped . If thats the case then I may be able to...
the pcnc 440's come with leadshine mx3660 stepper drivers
2 blown drivers on one machine over a week sucks . This one tonite is a new driver which ran good for a few days , I heard a pop and that was the end of that run of parts .
I've got a few older...
I missed that , anytime I see cookbook mentioned I gloss over it like a fat kid glosses over a celery stick at the corner store . I wouldn't take his opinion as gospel .
I'd like to know where those percentages come from . Cambam , vectric , meshcam and the likes are no where near the same calibre of mastercam , gibbs or seimens . I don't know how or where they would...
a couple that might be worth looking at are mecsoft visual mill and sprutcam . Both are reasonably priced and functional . I'd lean more towards the mecsoft myself
Mastercam is an exceptional product and I loved working with it in a bigger industry than where I am now . The problem with mastercam is it comes with an exceptional price tag as well . It's...
