Nice job! Thanks for the vids. I'm in the middle of the same converion. Do you mind sharing the source for your power supply?
Looking for a mid - low price system for running SolidWorks 2010. Does anyone have any experience with the Intel I5 or I7 processor? Should I stick with Xeon processor? It seems that I get more...
So last year I decided with the help of this site to give a try at home brew CNC. I ended up making a two axis plate to bolt to the table of my J head. I used Mach 3, Keling steppers and power...
Man this website is superb! Thanks for all the info fellas.
I think in the end, my setup will be much closer to the tractor setup than a high speed low drag production unit. I'm essentially a...
I'm in the early planning stage of a very simple CNC plasma cutter. Initially I was planning on just a simple Z axis going to a pre-determined Z dimension for torch height but I see a lot of...
Thanks Ger21. That just may have fixed it!!!!!!! I also noticed I didn't have the problem until I actually turned the mill on. It must be some noise feeding back from the 220V motor on the...
will it fix the problem I posted in this thread?

I may have made an important observation today when trying out a new cable. Whenever I ran a program at 6 ipm it seemed to run and repeat fine. When I slowed it down to 2 ipm, the problem came...
No, I don't recall any noise when they should be moving.
Just went out and checked settings. Speed 75 in/min Acceleration 5 in/min. It seems to jog, home, and maybe even rapid fine. It's...
Thought of something else. Computer:
Dell 2350 with 1.8 GHz Processor and 512 Ram. I installed a separate video card last weekend and turned off the onboard driver.
Oh two other things. I tried changing the X output pins and run it on the Z driver and got the same results. And I also noticed the G540 was warm. Am I doing something to over heat it?
Let me start by saying I'm new to this stuff and just getting my first project together. It's an X - Y table with the following:
KL23H284-35-4B Motors
KL-350-48 48V/7.3A Power Supply
G540...
Pretty much the same as fusion described. I'm building an XY table to mount to my bridgeport. We have a Prototrak at work that works the same as fusion described. The machine pauses and prompts...
Ah ha, I see. So did you use switches and inputs to confirm back to Mach that the quill was up or down before moving? Otherwise, the XY might start to move before the Z is fully up or down right?
Fusion,
Did you ever find a setting that would cause the program to pause for z movements? I tried the one mentioned above and got the same results - just flies right on by.
I got in on this deal as a part of my firt attempt at a project. Loved the simplicity and ample info on setup etc.
Got my little XY table moving for the first time last night and you couldn't...
Been lurking around for a while and finally decided to start my first project. I want to start out simple by converting a small (8" X 8") cross slide to use on my bridgeport.
Here's the plan:
