You don't paint aluminium, you anodize it and a vast range of colours can be got from using a clothes dye as the colourant.
search google for DIY anodizing, its so simple to do.
I've never tried...
I think if I was wanting to make these parts,I would be making them in aluminium casting.
You would still need a mold of them in wood but at the end of the day the wood molds can make numerous...
If you do it yourself? use clothes dye to select a colour, really amazing stuff when you do it and it becomes none scratch surface.

No use going into a paintshop and asking for a lb of bananas. :)
Nope, they were designed for the modeller in mind, but on saying that they can turn parts for any components within their capability.

Nicolas you should not have a problem powering two regulators from the 30v supply.
Here's a link to a 7824 reg,the same can be done for the 7805.
Vi is the 30v+ input and Vo is the output...
Whats the problem of drilling the corner yourself?
A cordless drill or a dremmel drill will do it.
There should be a pot on the PSU? that can take the voltage down to its minimum setting probably around the 24v? then alls you need is 12v reg 7812 to supply the 12volts,this can be run from the 24v.
It also might be a failing LOPT(Line output transformer),as this would also give these symptoms.there's a way to test this but I'm afraid I'll not diverse the how as the LOPT has voltage of 1.5kv and...
