I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but could you combine the 2 programs with a M00 in between?
Yep, I changed the tool orientation and it works. Thanks a bunch :)
I am trying to bore a tapered hole, from .559 to .581, but I don't see a boring option in Bobcad. I tried the turning options, and this is what I get every time. Using V26.
It will not be a complete wheel, but rather a small portion of it, like a piece of pie. Sorry for the confusion.

This is the type of cutter, except with a full radius. The plate will be mounted horizontally.
Robobass, I like your idea, may try it :)
Fitting the plate in the mill isn't a problem, just making the toolpath in Bobcad/cam. If I had an on-size cutter, this would be easy, but all my cutters are too small and having one made costs $$$....
I am trying to make a wheel with a groove that a tube will bend around (attached pdf). Normally I make these on the lathe, but I have a job coming that requires a nearly 3 foot diameter wheel, so it...
In NE Michigan I do everything from drawing up the part to machining it while supervising our CNC department for $13/hr. Even though I have only a little over a year experience, it's still not much....
Never heard of the brand, but being on a tight budget I buy my calipers and most everything else on ebay. Most listings let you zoom in close to look at the caliper jaws. :)
I am using the internal threading program in the IPS. And I am sure its not .046. The TPI is correct, but the internal diameter always comes out too small, even on other threads. In fact, external...
I am trying to make a 1in 14TPI internal thread using the IPS. In using IPS for other processes I know its not perfect, but how does it calculate the K value?
If K = (major dia. - minor dia)/ 2,...
On the file that I uploaded, the top is the only part that I need help with. I am trying to remove about 2mm off the top while leaving the 2 cylindrical parts. I have been trying to figure out how to...
No because you would have to hoist the mill 15 feet up in the air every time you wanted it cleaned.
Giraffes have a technique for eating leaves off this tree that is covered in long needle like protrusions without getting poked. Perhaps we can learn something from them?
Please send info including number of parts and drawings to [email protected]
Ok thanks guys.
It is an air plasma cutter. The parts are kind of an odd shape, so grinding them may not be an option. I guess we are gonna go through more end mills...
I am using a Torchmate cnc plasma cutter to cut 1/2in low carbon steel, the parts then go into my Haas for milling. It seems that these plasma cut parts may be eating up my carbide cutters rather...
When running the simulator in Bobcad there aren't any errors, but when trying to run the program on the lathe I get a red light and a message stating that there is an invalid I,J,or K in the G03...
aaaahh, ok I believe I get it now. I know my machines support linear interpolation. I figured that both axis would travel at the same feed rate with G01, so I figured wrong. Thanks :)
A buddy of mine said to look into interpolation... if you guys have any info on interpolation, it would be very helpful :)
I am trying to mill with a ball mill, but to avoid the line it leaves in the middle of the groove, I want to mill at an angle, 17 degrees to be exact. I made a set of parallels with my plasma cutter...
Hmmm, well, I would need to make a jig that would hold the piece at an angle...
Thanks for your help guys :)
I want to use a ballnose (or ballmill) end mill to mill a groove into a part for a tube. So far, we have avoided using the end mills because of the small line the ballnose end mills leave inside...

I work for a tube forming company, and I make the wheels that the tubes get bent around. We got a TL-1 with a 3 jaw chuck a couple months ago, and I am still working out some issues. I started using...
I had a similar issue until I set the work off-set (G54) at the home-zero point.
Hello from NE MI!
I started working at a tube forming machine shop last January, and is my first experience with anything CNC . We have two mills and one lathe, and I just set up our new Torchmate...
