Hoo-Rah!! Between PMs between txcncman and Bill's posts to this thread I have been nudged (shoved kicking and clawing?) toward the light! You helped me visualize and realize where the parameters...
My original question was dimensions pulled out of thin air just for a "how-to". Since I decided a drawing might be a better indicator of what I was trying to accomplish I made a drawing with more...
I usually do very straight-forward turning with nothing fancy but I need to face off a 1.5" dia plexi rod with the end profile being concave or convex and I'm experiencing some sort of "mantal...
John,
I had totally forgotten about the voltage selector switch - I had to do that as well!

Yes, estop is set to 27 which is the <esc> key.
Here are some screen shots of how mine is set up. As far as the moto0r config (speed, accel, etc.) you'll want to tweak them "by ear" after you get stuff moving.
I'll try to grab some screen-caps later on...
Yeah, finally got everything figured out on it and overall it works pretty good. The flexible shaft spindle arrangement actually works quite well, much better than I expected it would.
I would complete it and KEEP IT!!!!
Just my .02...
OK, finally got up off mu butt and did some more work. I had to remake my tool-post mounting block, drill a through-hole through the block, and thread one side to screw the ball-nut into. From...
Blades, it's a single drawer "service cart" from Harbor Freight. They often have them on said for between $60 - $70. The PC and other electronics sit on the bottom shelf and the keyboard goes into...
It was a fleabay item...
I replaced the stock with a 10 pitch acme leadscrew and nut because I didn't want to modify the stock screw but there is a lot of backlash. I have bought a ballscrew assembly but haven't had time to...
I haven't had time to "re-engineer" the cross-slide to incorporate the ballscrew yet but I'll add pics when I do.
Just turning it on and off, I got it figured out. It appears you configure a "motor output" pin instead of the one called out as "spindle".
Thanks...
I am reposting most of this from the "Engraving Machine" section as I feel this is probably a Mach 3 configuration issue.
I purchased a little Chinese 3 axis router/engraver and have everything...
I purchased a little Chinese 3 axis router/engraver and have everything set up nicely except for spindle control. This is probably a Mach3 config issue but I'm not 100% sure. When I first boot up...
Blades, SLICK! I can't wait for you to get your spindle encoder/control sorted so I can "steal" your design!
That seems to have done it!
Thanks to you both. I will save this as a V12 file and see what happens...
I have just bought a small three axis router/engraver and am having some difficulties pulling .dxf files into various programs that are supposed to create G-code. When the file is pulled in the...
Blades, looks cool so far but I think I'm going to need to work up some sort of horizontal turret as I have a boring bar I need to bring into play... I just got a small CNC router/engraver so the...
Looks promising. I eagerly await your results as I have thinking about some sort of tool-change "turret" myself...
Ronncat, most excellent conversion in every way - I'm speechless! I need to go remove all the pictures of my pathetic conversion so y'all don't make fun of me!

Haven't had much time lately to mess with this but this week had a little time so I changed my Z axis feed to a ballscrew I snagged off fleabay. Nice Going from .012 backlash to .001". :-) ...
No stall - Yet! :-p When I finalize the wiring I'll use heat-shrink over the connections. I need to replace he yellow 14 ga stuff with something a bit more reasonable...
Thanks, Blades. I'm just using an old clone 950 Mhz PC with Ubuntu Linux and EMC2. My driver electronics consists of a parallel port opto-isolation board and MD-Fly Bi-Polar stepper driver boards...
Well, update time I suppose! This sat for a few weeks due to other priorities but was able to play around with it a bit last week. I got all of the limit and home switches mounted and stuffed some...
You could try the EMC2/Ubuntu Linux package, that's what I'm running on an old 950 Mhz machine with no problems...
