In response to #2, we have this talk in our shop a lot. In our area we have quite a few shops & no one seems to talk to the kids in school about machining as a viable career.

In response to #2, we have this talk in our shop a lot. In our area we have quite a few shops & no one seems to talk to the kids in school about machining as a viable career.
Machining is a HUGE...
We thought we had rigid tapping all around in our LB & found out we did not for a static holder, double checked all parameters, & BOOM. Turns out we had a miss communication when we ordered the...
THANKS tea hole! Those would be great numbers to compare. I really like our LB & I hate the thought of taking a step backwards as far as the little things go.. They do add up after a while & next...
Thanks for your input! You've hit the nail on the head for all my concerns. We do bar feed some +/-.0002 parts on occaison that i don't fight now & dont want to either! We have not decided on a bed...
I am looking for a side by side comparison of a an LB machine & a comparable size Genos. We currently have an Lb & am very happy with it. I am most interested in tolerancing & cycle times if any one...
We dont use the auto decide part of igf. We have also spent a considerable amount of time in parameter hell as well lol.
We do how ever use the crap out of process record / call function! We use...
On our LC 30 bolts C are clamp unlock & bolt A manualy moves the tail stock via a gear & rack.
Reaching over the sub spindle became a priority over depth of cut at on point. Can I take more when needed sure.. Some parts are 1/4" when done, a large depth of cut was not needed for any of those...
Our rough cutter does hang out a bit due to clearance problems. We don't do a ton of material removal, occasionally but not a lot. Our parts are on the smaller side & we do a lot of live tool work....
Tool 1 is rough/ face, tool 3 is finish. From there sky is the limit, we have four face & four edge live tools plus a HOB. Which is the biggest reason for this post. We also have a sub spindle so a...
I had only looked at wto's web site so far, we are in the researching stages for this years purchases. Thanks again guys.
The reason for capto is only because no one offers 1" shank double "y". They are all 3/4". & this is simply not going to work for our normal depths of cut.
Lack of turret positions is the main...
Thanks guys, I have looked at the actual tool blocks & I am limited to a c3 capto for a double holder, I was just looking for some real world opinions of how others faired with their c3. We have run...
We do everything from plastics to the occasional stainless job. A lot of 4140 - A2.
Do you have C3 capto in your shop?
Good point. Thanks, I will prob do that with the sub spindle as we don't run it very often.
I sometimes manually rotate the spindle with the jog button for a lil bit. But i haven't written a program for it. Just the main & sub right now.
You guess?? Please elaborate. Price vs performance type isssues?
My alternative is 3/4" shank. Which I know won't work lol
I agree the up front cost is pretty high but hopfully you can see from the pics that the amount of work done all in a realatively short amout of time is worth it in a production enviornment.
This...
Yep the individual unit was about $13k, the arbor was about $1k, & each HOB is around $800. The machine will also need set up with a hobbing software to control the main spindle & tool spindle to...
Forgot to mention that we use ER 32 in all of our live tools, but we are very interested in a modular system! We are hoping simplify some of our longer set ups & cut some time out of the overall...
Any body out there use double y capto holders in their lathe?
I assume this is C3?
Is C3 comparable to a 1" shank tool? (DNMG) stability wise..
IT needs to hang out a couple inches from the tool...
Hey guys I operate an LB 3000 EX MYW machine.
In my never ending search for versatility I run into a small problem, I know nothing about capto! Lol
My concern isn't with the capto design but my...
Thanks for the replies!
We currently have not warmed them up. However until recently we we only doing low speed milling & drilling.
As of late we have some new inserted cutters & carbide drills...
Hi guys this is my first post so excuse me if I'm in the wrong place, I wanted as many opinions as possible.
We have a 2 spindle lathe with live tooling & I was wondering how much time if any, every...
