I have followed this thread a long time. I had posted here before and even done some layout in preparation for making a few boards. I stopped it because I can now get the driver, a three axis board...
Martin, you're missing the point that Russel was making. This thread is about hacking a printer, not about what system of doing PCBs is better. For that there are other threads. This thread is meant...

To control the power to the motors
Screw terminal has my vote
I don't know why it double posted, but it did and I couldn't find a way to earase it.
Phew!!! 805 posts and I just read every one of them!!! Much more interesting than the stuff on TV!!!
Now I have an other item for my just-have-to-do list.
Man, Pete Robinson, your knowledge on...
Phil, can you be so kind and say where in Mach3 you'll do it, the current reduction?
Yoram
AAHHHHH, that's what it's for. Clever, my friend. I will have to implement it.
Looking good, elforum. Let us know when you have the boards made and how much they will cost.
What program did you use to make this board look so real?
Thanks,celladon1, for the file. Did you bent the legs on the chip yourself? I couldn't find any reference to it on digikey.com
celladon1, do you have the schematic and the board layout in Eagle? If yes, can you share it with us?
I wonder why you left the 'enable' out, elforum.
Does 'invert' means in this case making it low instead of high? You can do that in Mach 3 too.
Phil, will your board work with a simple breakout board or does it need, too, something special to work with a simple breakout board?
Elforum, I don't understand what you mean. Will it work with a breakout board? Something like this? http://pminmo.com/4axis/4axisBOBdata.pdf If not , what kind of an opto coupler should be used?
Depends who's board you'll be doing. I counted on pminmo's board more than 40 topside connections. Elforum has the two capacitors, the two motor terminal, the two segments dip-switch and the led....
Gerd, do you have a way to make the board professionally or do you solder them by hand. I'm scratching my head how to solder components on the top side since they are covering the pad. How do you do...
elforum, you said you've tested the driver that you have in the picture in post #49? You have the jumper on the single opto-coupler on pins 1 and 4. The specs for that part says it should be 2 and 4,...
elforum, will the board that you will sell include the opto-couplers?
Where do you buy your stuff from?
Yoram
Go ahead, rain on my parade!!! :D :D
Actually, elforum, 20Euro is not a bad price. I checked out the parts and they cost about 10Euro at DigiKey.

Phil, I have a few questions. I have a breakout board that needs a 5V power-supply. Can I use it to power the boards too and skip the whole 7805 part or is it an important part of the operating...
So what software did you end up using?
I went to your site, Phil, and didn't find a reference to this board. You don't have it listed yet?
Did you build the board and is it working? If yes, can you post some pictures of both side of the board? I have downloaded the file you've posted and have so many questions that may be answered with...
I too had bought these boards without reading here first. Now that I have them I can only say DON'T BUY IT. I ended up putting HUGE heatsinks to run my steppers.
Did use the info here on this...
I suggest you read this thread before you do anything with this driver chip.http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24699

I'll find the folder, I know I will, even if it will take me a whole year.:):)
