the key to learning is making 1000's of setups and running 1000's of jobs.
after that your home free. the machine brand name does not make any difference.
you will need to mill in steps if posible or rough pocket out first leaving only .005,then finish with several passes in steps.
if i understand your post.
1) is sounds like the variable "%blockno " does not have a value. there is no value to use.
2) no line number in the program.
3) each line in the controler usually has a line number.

tough stuff,need to keep fresh and sharp tap in spindle,also we used a special tapping compound. i think it is called "hardcut",it red and pours like cold honey.also drill out hole to the limit.if...
i ran a fadal for 10 years.It does good work on light stuff. not so good on stuff like stainless 304.it has a light spindle.

I served part of an apprenticeship, mostly as a "slave". Learned the name of the tools, how to drill a hole, just basic stuff. got layed off, went to another shop,got fired for not knowing anything....
1) I am having trouble picking exact location of hole for drilling cam op. what am doing wrong?

I don't know how much machining exper you have? But i found a free g code
simulator online. "AutoEditCnc" can help. A book called "7 easy steps to cnc"
another book by Smid is more advanced.
