    Re: Huanyang VFD Troubleshooting

Could you please explain why you can not measure VFD output with a normal multi-meter? I tried with both of my multi-meters and got 7-800 volts with one meter and 40-50 volts DC reading with another...

Re: Z axis drops when power removed

I've learned having the gibs properly adjusted makes a big difference. I'm considering doing away with the gibs and installing linear rails on the Z axis. Problem is you need a mill to mill the...

Did you switch to a steel spring or find another solution?
  6. Re: G0704 Spindle bearing upgrade - Vertical play/slop on spindle shaft.

I like that idea of attaching pully to quill barrel, as the shaft is not designed to have a drive belt tugging on it. Have you done it on a G0704? Pls post a picture if you have one. Agree on...
  7. Re: G0704 Spindle bearing upgrade - Vertical play/slop on spindle shaft.

Tonight, I went in and lightly brazed the spline channels of the bearing assembly (not the shaft). Then filed the channels out until I had a light press fit. Then after reassembly I put one of the...
  8. Re: G0704 Spindle bearing upgrade - Vertical play/slop on spindle shaft.

Ya, I use a bushing and it helps alot; essentially supports the top of the spindle which is unsupported and gets pulled on by the belt drive pully. However, I still notice slop in the splined...
  9. Re: G0704 Spindle bearing upgrade - Vertical play/slop on spindle shaft.

Have any of you guys noticed how loose the splined joints of the spindle shaft is? I converted to belt drive and get vibration and think much of it is from how loose the splined shaft fits on the...

Are the gibs adjusted properly? If they're loose they might grab when changing direction.

    Re: SX2 spindle control

Do you set-up Mach 3 to control the spindle with PWM or Step /Dir Motor? The documentation in the C11GS manual is contradicts itself. It says to check the Sep/Dir Motor box, but then in the diagram...

    Re: Hoss's G0704

My 0704 has the newer motor - the one with the 14mm shaft. Does anyone know what full speed motor RPM's should be? Without messing with any of the POT's it's running 3900 RPM. Seems slow.

Curious do you a have 3 phase service or are you using a phase converter? Am surprised you'd need 3 phase for such a small mill - comments appreciated.

    Two questions:
Why are you installing encoders? I didn't think you needed them if you CNC'd the mill.
