currently im cutting with a double fluted down cut bit as the compression one is now unavailable until tomorrow, and the chips are a mix of dust and small curls
you would do 2 passes with the compression bit?
i was previously running a double flute downcut at 15,000 rpm and 125 imp
what settings are you using for this bit if you were cutting 4" coasters out of 6 mm plywood
i cut a lot of foam boards ranging from 3/16" to 1" and i would never use a bit for a clean edge, i use a blade attachment (cut guru se 246) and it leaves a prefect edge
so i was finally able to convince my boss to buy a compression bit, its a whiteside solid carbide compression bit, 1/4 cut 1/4 shank, can compression bits be plunged into the cut like the other bits,...
ok ill have to practice ramping in (if you have any tips for ramping i think you can tell im pretty new to these machines), everything i cut is either prepared for me in our digital department or i...
whats the best way to start?

yea when i run multiple passes with just the downcut bit there is no fuzz, so im the thinking the smaller diameter is it, any tips for how to cut these coasters with as little chipping as possible...
i tried changing the depths on the initial cut and that didnt fix it so im really at a loss right now
i didnt think about it like that, is there something i can do to check for it being different sizes? besides the possible difference in sizes are there any other things that could be causing it?
the bits are identical, except for the cut direction, W2-418 D/U from cut guru
i switch between a downcut and upcut bit to imitate a compression bit, im trying to cut coasters that are printed on and need very little chipping on the top and bottom, which is working pretty...
i like it, the only thing i would criticize is that the top menu, such as ball screw repair, could have a drop down menu when you put your cursor over it, but other than that great information and i...
so im cutting 6mm plywood cirlcles(4x4") and im using the poor mans compression bit trick, im using a double fluted down cut bit to get through the top half and then a double fluted upcut to finish...

yes something like an incredibuild
haha well i prefer star wars ships over redheads and blondes...
so i have tests to run on my machine and a ton of scrap styrene and i was hoping someone in this community might have some model plans that they could share. i have to test cutting speeds and blades...
so i have a lot of bits left over from the previous operator and i am trying to figure out a way to test/examine the sharpness of the bit without having to use every bit in the machine and then...
one of the coolest builds ive seen
the bit i use has a cutting edge diameter of 4mm, rpm - 15,000, with a feed rate of 125 inches per min, i do two passes the first pass has a negative depth value that removes half of the material and...
ive had the best success with a single edge blade, as long as im cutting straight lines, too much of a curve and i run into issues of breaking the blade, i prefer to use a double fluted multi purpose...
i cut similar wood, but mainly around the 6mm size, i also use a 2 flute straight down cut (they are printed on and the up cut will chip the ink), where are you getting your bits from? i currently...
with those settings, would you cut in one pass or multiple passes?
im running a kongsberg xn, using bits from cut guru, and i have a job which requires cutting 4 in coasters from a sheet of birchwood. the feed rate and chip load that they supply dont seem accurate...
so i run a kongsberg xn with a multicut head, im self taught and have a little over a years experience running the machine. i recently began working on a job cutting coasters out of 3/16" plywood,...
