I have found the sliding doors on vans have the same stuff. If you go to a wrecking yard you can pick it up second/hand really cheap. I got 2 strips from a Chrysler van for $5 here in Australia.

Thanks for your help guys. I was wondering also what hrs you have got out of the laser tube, as a lot of others seem to be having them fail after only a few hrs?
Great work on the thread, I have been looking at buying one of these for a week or so and found it very helpful, would you still recommend it or do you think there is a better model available? Cheers
Keling has already repied with a quote :)
Shipping fee: $34.95
G540: $249
Will the work with my current PSU and steppers until I get some more $$$ ?
Can someone please link to a G540 for $249.00
I have been using a $79 4axis Chinese board for 12 months and its still going great!! sure I only have 269 oz-in motors and a $20 15Amp 28volt PSU but...
I am wondering which motors will be on what axis? do you plan on using the 906 oz on the Z axis?
that sounds like a nice and also cheap mod!! does it change the machine's ramp up/down speed? also what is the machine like at slow speeds now?
Cheers
Hello Zygoat,
Check out this thread on those boards,

I have been using 1 for a few months now without much drama, the input opto's gave a...
Hello steppy and welcome to the forum, you are certainly in the right place to learn how to operate stepper motors. Depending on your needs there are lots of pre-made drivers, breakout boards and...
Quote..CaptKid,
I'm thinking of building the frame and gantry out of foam and fiberglass.
I am interested in your idea, I have seen craft-board and fiberglass used successfully before on a foam...
Try this,

If you have a multimeter just measure the resistance between the wires. You can work out the coils. Depending on if you join the coils or run with just 2 will decide your speed vs torque. Remember...
What is your machine? Router, Plasma cutter, mill, etc. ? what speeds do you require? what is your drive mechanism type? This will decide your motor type etc. the G540 is a nice driver. Please give us...
Wow what a monster, cant wait to see what you find, goodluck.
I noticed that someone else here was researching these motors also and managed to get some documents from the US.
here is his thread

Hello Patrick,
can you tell me what year your motor is? I have some docs from 97 up, is this a large stepper?
Can you run the motor disconnected from the machine?, try swapping over motor connectors on the driver and run the z as another axis(for testing purposes), you could even try swapping the motors if...
I also just got around to hooking up the limit switches to the board and run into some trouble. I have found that only the pin 10 input would register. after some testing with my multimeter I found...
Here is the Torque chart from Kelinginc.

As it appears in this chart, the torque of your motor decreases with PPS.
Using the Math

Is it possible to install a gear ratio that can turn the ball screw faster at lower motor RPM, this would also use the higher torque area of the motor, just a thought? cheers:)
Hello,
I have done lots of experiments with powering steppers from batteries and AVR micro controllers. I have made a Telescope tripod control using a 0.9deg nema17 stepper with a 60:1 reduction...
Hello Mariss,
Thanks for your excellent research on this product, My TB6560 is currently running at 24v 1.8A, I was hoping to run some 3Amp steppers from my 24v-10Amp power supply. Do you think I...
Hello Peter,
I have now been running my 4axis TB6560 for well over 60hrs at 24v without any failures. I am a little concerned at the voltage regulators as they get really HOT. is this normal?...
Hello Les,
A lot will depend on how much friction you have on your lead screw and slides, I have found that using a reduction gear before the lead screw is often better when using thread bar. Like...
Try this thread, seems to be the same stepper. :)

I just checked the supplier for my board and they now have stated in their ad not to use any power supply 12-36v under 8amps, they also link to a matching power supply listed by them. This supplier...
Wow that was unlucky!! I don't think these boards go well over 24v, I think if I want to run some more voltage I might make a small Mosfet breakout board with a good heat sink. I have operated this...
Hello all,
thought I'd add to this forum as I've also got the TB6560 from Mega-supply. I haven't as yet got a proper power supply, so I've been using 2 x 7ah 12v sli batteries. I got the 4 axis...
Just looking at your photos and the printer cable(internal) is very close to the stepper output cables on your board, can you try plugging the external cable directly to the board? also is it possible...
