Thanks for the replies Jim and Tom. That should get me into the ball park with my THC.
Thanks
John
You might have the direction or something like that wrong. Try posting this in one of the EMC community contact methods as most EMC folks don't hang out on the Zone. For the fastest help hop on the...
I have a Hypertherm 1250.
Is there any info on the distance from the work to the tip and voltage ratio?
Does the distance change with the current setting?
Is it something like 0.005" per...
You might try asking this question in the EMC mailing list. Not many EMC users hang out in the Zone...

If you mean 4' x 8' I assume it is a plasma table. I use sheetcam.

G0 is a Rapid move not a Jog.
If your doing a move that involves both X and Y axis then the combined speed can exceed your maximum rapid speed but no axis will exceed the maximum rapid speed.

After you press "submit post"

John
we need the link... AFAIK
John
you could pastebin it and post the link or hop over to the IRC and post the link...

Not that I know of. There is a menu item under Machine to clear offsets... Don't know what all it will clear off the top of my head. Sounds like your making progress now. IMHO 2.3 is WAY better from...
When you get your code worked out if you don't mind sharing post it here or send it to me. It sounds like some useful reusable code.
John
So far 2.3 seems to be bug free... I have it on two computers now and have been using the pre 2.3 on my plasma cutter for quite some time (a year maybe). It doesn't look like much of a pain to revert...
If you don't mind using a beta version you can upgrade to 2.3 beta and use G28.1 or G30.1 to store your current locations then do the math in your loop to figure out how many passes you need.

You need to set the scale to the correct value for your machine or figure out if it is loosing steps.

It was water in the line that caused the problem. New dryer on the way with a new compressor :)

For looping look in the O code section of the manual.

and like Peter said electrical too...
John
That's a pretty clear picture. I would have to guess some kind of hardware problem. Perhaps someone else has a better idea.
John
Is this a stepper system?
Are you loosing steps?

The developers did mention if you could up your acceleration a "ton" then M62/63 would work much better...
John
you might just want to pop in over at the IRC channel #EMC and chat with the experts or use the embedded java client on this page to get on the IRC

AFAIK, 2.3 beta is only out for 8.04... so I guess you can not test it in 6.06 at the moment. Anyway it won't matter now that I understand more about what I didn't know about M62/63.
John
Ok you can use a comparator Z>0 to turn on the laser but it will not be perfect. I saw one laser guy that used Z0.001 for on and Z-0.001 for off. It would take some tweaking to get it to work. For...
The naive cam detector won't work with M62/63. :(
There is a way to use the Z axis but I'm not sure how that is done at the moment.
John
Just to be sure are you running 2.3 beta?
It looks like the CamThingy breaks when M62/63 comes into play...
