Do you have ART add-on? I'd probably import it into art and do lofting from there. Don't do this stuff often and don't have the program at the house, but art seems to be a good tool for these...
Thanks Tubeguy, Very sound advise! I am actually planning to build my shop, not lease. Makes more sense to pay a bank for something you will own vice paying someone elses building mortgage. I...
My apologies for the lack of response. By no means was this intentional. I am serious, about this, however, I have 3 years still until retirement from the military, have been in school and teach...
Anyone planning to attend this show? It is April 16-18 I believe... I'd like to attend, but if it's a bust, I'd prefer to save the time and money for a better show. What say the experts here?
...
Is this still open? I can work from solidworks files and prefer small runs and am on east coast.

IMHO, you cant go wrong with the probe... if you stand to make a profit, now or in the future, you won't regret spending the extra cash for this. Go for the chip conveyor as well, it will clear the...
Can you hear it unlock when you put it in the a axis on the remote? Can you control the a axis from the main control, it seems you can from the zero return, but can you from hand jog?
Impressive, I hadn't thought about ceramic for hardened steel before, not sure if I missed it, but how hard is "hard" in RC. I'd assume 60+?
This may sound stupid, but make sure the e-stop button is pushed in or it won't allow you to enable the axis.
Good luck and happy new year!
I am in the planning phase of opening my own shop after I retire from the military. I have roughly 4 years to really think this out and plan it right. What I am asking from you guys is your...
Call me lazy here, but I need a quick answer as to how much a brand new Bridgeport vert Knee mill will run fully loaded, don't need CNC, just basic DRO is fine for this machine.
Thanks
Brad
Jeff, That will work just fine, Thanks!
Title says it... I need a DXF of an Engineer Castle. I will be using Waterjet. Thanks, here's a sample of what I am looking for.
Brad
It has been a while since we have changed a metering disc so I will check that. The garnett we are using is 80 HPA from Barton... Seems pretty good to me. I will run through the rest of your...
Kelly,
To tell the truth, our waterjet has basically replaced our large band saw. . . I love it, but is very expensive on consumables i.e. mixing tubes are $100 ea and if you do not have yoru...
Kelly,
I am on Marine Corps Base Japan in Okinawa. I have 15 years manual experience and about 2 on CNC. All of what I know about CNC has been self taught and ALOT of trial, error and OH CRAP...
Kelly,
What base are you at? I run military machine shop as well and have a TM1 and TL1... I have learned this... Trust your machinist and their training. Make them check, recheck and triple...
Thanks Jake, I will check all that you suggested.
Worthy of another mention... I have spent hours on this thread studying and reverse engineering some of the tools they have made on there... Great resource!

I cannot figure out why my machine keeps blowing out mixing tubes... Replaced 3 yesterday before I gave up in the interest of NOT wasting another $100! Please tell me why. . .
I am running a...
All done... all in all it SUCKED! (nuts) HAHA. the 1st .075 was horribly hard to break through and treated my cutters like a red headed stepchild but after that could take .030 passes at a very slow...
Thawk,
Where did you find those part numbers? I must not have very good researching skills... I still couldn't find much on them. If you know who sells them, let me know.
Thanks!
Thanks Thawk, I appreciate the quick help!
Brad
It is stamped and shown in the photo, I figured you all were going to see that in the picture... anyways, here's the part number of the tool holder:
Kennametal KGSPL20UD
Brad
I recently picked this up on Ebay for 0.99! Now I might know why LOL! I cant seem to find any parting inserts for it. Can any of you point me in a good direction. Kennametal doesn't list any on...
Problem is that I am in Okinawa Japan and EVERYTHING here corrodes. Stainless is the most suitable material, I'd use brass or aluminum, but I need to be able to attach a magnetic based dial...
LOL @ christinandavid... You are right about that... with every pass. . . Not looking forward to doing all that work, just to find out it's no good. It would help to have higher quality end mills......
Thanks MrWild... I read up on it after I posted that... I can just hope that it is minimal or can at least minimize it on the finish cuts. I did however determine that 365 spindle speed with constant...
