The job has been awarded. I've been asked to share the winning numbers. The quote I went with was for less than $30 a piece for the first 4. This encluded polishing which was a plus. And actually...

Thanks to everyone that has quoted so far. Bidding for this job will end tonight at 7pm. I will contact the winner shortly after.
There has been a question about the material thickness. I allowed extra minus tolerance for the use of 1/2" material. All surfaces must be machined.
Dualkit, the file format is .igs which was output with MasterCAM. However, it is compressed to a .zip file. You will need an program to extract the .igs (winzip or winrar are popular).

Mike,
I have never had much luck with fonts in Rhino. Some work, and some don't. If you zoom in real small on the lines created, are they smooth and all connected? The problem I have seen is that...

timlkallam, almost everything that I have read online (reviews) of emachineshop says that the prices are usually high compared to standard shops. If all the reviews I"ve read are wrong, then I...

 haha you silly man
Mainly because part of the money I will get for selling the items on this forum (here is a link, by the way I lowered the price today;) )is going to pay for this. So I'd like to keep the money here....
Would the tooling costs alone for casting be pretty high? I downloaded emachineshop again and rechecked the price (couldn't remember what the quote was the first time), and it's not that bad. Very...
Sorry to bring this back up, but after a year I"m going to go ahead and go forward with this.

I've finally got my company convinced that they need to change CAM systems. They've made initial contact with, um..., i'm not sure who. But they will be scheduling a demo soon.
Anything that I...

First, this is how I set up my Z axis corridinate. Activate G53 (machine...

Anyone ever heard of Makino ? Got a call from them the yesterday about a job. I'm sure it would mean that I would have to relocate. Just want to get others opinions on the company before I talk to...
Alot of questions here, so I"ll do my best.
M06 is the code for a tool change. It tells the controller/machine to change tools. I'm guessing, but I would say that the P1 would be the tool...
I guess I should say try to answer any questions. :D
I'm not even close to Chicago, but I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
That would be done with the surface - project toolpath.
That's actually the problem I've seen most when people are having problems. Easy thing to watch for, as long as you know to watch for it.
I think your main problem is that the profile curves are not closed. Meaning they actually have a start and an end point that are not the same. To see this, select one of the curves, and type the...
