Hi Andrew, thanks for the reply. Well K2 went under earlier this year or late last year. I am in the process of wiring an arduino for use with grbl. I hope I'm not opening a can of worms. :/

Thank you for the reply Andrew! I went to your link and it was very helpful. I also called K2 and talked to their tech support guy. He told me to adjust the pid as well. So I connect my scope to the...

  6. Re: Need a little help with feeds and speeds in aluminum.

Thanks Louie, I ended up doing a conservative 3 passes at 12krpm and 12ipm and it turned out well. I did that before I read your reply. I also think I can do it in 2 passes. I will try 12krpm and...

  8. Need a little help with feeds and speeds in aluminum.

Ok I tried to find the information on feeds and speeds on google, but everyone wants to talk about chip load, or they start at 1/8" tool size, or the rpm too slow, or they want to sell you a...
  9. Re: Display off after loading g-code, z goes up to limit, new machine

So a new pc and upgrading to the latest version on Mach3 solved all the problems. I load the gcode with no changes and it moves properly.

Hi guys thanks for your replies.
It's good to know it is supposed to work. I had a problem with the computer so I replaced it with another. It's also running XP. I also downloaded the latest...
  11. Re: Display off after loading g-code, z goes up to limit, new machine

Hi Mactec, Yes in fact it will and did. What was happening is the machine was moving 1" for every unit it was interpreting as mm. The result is it tried to move the Z axis up to .8" which would have...
  12. Re: Display off after loading g-code, z goes up to limit, new machine

I changed it from mm to inches. I did it in two places. I don't understand why the g20 or g21 wouldn't just take care of this automatically. I read I was supposed to change steps per unit, velocity,...
  13. Re: Display off after loading g-code, z goes up to limit, new machine

I used the Mach2/3 ATC arc post processor so I could combine two toolpaths even though the machine does not have ATC.
  14. Display off after loading g-code, z goes up to limit, new machine

Hiya, getting kinda frustrated. New k2 machine setup using provided profile. Display in inches works fine until I load aspire generated gcode. Very simply part, just cuts out a circle. After I load...

Re: Colombo RS73 cooling fan question.

In case anyone else has a similar question, I heard back from Colombo. The fan is powered separately from the spindle. It is a 220vac fan. I need to dig in and see how K2 wired it.

Re: Vacuum forming action figures HELP!

Vacuum mold the original part. Then fill that mold with plaster and use it as your mold. The spacing will be the thickness of the material used on the first mold. ;)

I have read that a laser tube is happiest when it is on and operating. If it's not used regularly it's not likely to last very long.
