Thanks all for your replies and info!
The table was designed for use with an AC servo & encoder. I have adapted it to a stepper with no encoder.
Maybe adding an encoder will be the best...
Sounds like that would work well.
Unfortunately there is no vernier nor is there a good place to adapt one.
That thing looks heavy!
I have a 6" Parker rotary table I would like to use for light milling and indexing work with a NEMA 23 on my mill.
Unfortunately, it didn't come with the home switch option and I'm not real...
Does anyone know if the problems in running a wire EDM with LinuxCNC have been resolved?
My understanding was that there was some trouble getting the software to "back up" the wire as needed by...

Great information - Thanks!
What lead pitch did you use on your ball screw knee conversion?
Also, do you ever have any regrets/drawbacks about choosing steppers over servos? ...
Excellent! Thanks for the info.
Hello all:
Will Mach 3 run servos and steppers simultaneously?
I have a 4 axis (X, Y, Z-quill, Z-knee) milling system setup with steppers on 3 axes. I would like to place a servo motor on the...
Hmmm... Lots of views with no replies.
Maybe I need to be more direct:

Hello all:
I am trying to choose a stepper motor and reduction gearing setup for a 9x49 BP clone. I am attempting to approach this from an engineering perspective as opposed to a guess-and-check or...
Thanks for the input -that makes a lot of sense!
Reducing the table speed from 590ipm at 3000rpm to around 150-200ipm would require a 3:1 gear reduction if I was to use my specified power supply...
Thank you all for your input!

By "controller" I assume you mean the software and not the driver?
I will be using Mach 3 or EMC2 -I haven't made a definite decision yet. My X & Y axes are...
Hello all:
