would it not be:
using inches: rpm = desired FeetPM/ [(radius*2pi)/12]
metric MM: rpm = MetersPM / [(radius*2pi)/1000)]

looking at my HAL scope, i found that the A and B signals are basically 180 degrees out of phase (im using a photosensor which has built in quadrature and obviously my hole spacing does not match the...
the weird thing about it is that most of the errors are when it comes back up to the top at the end of the cycle. is it possible for it to get confused of the encoder does not work quite right? maybe...
im running the stock brushless motor setup which reverses very quickly. it does not have any user adjustable features.

hi. i have a converted x2 mini mill with linuxcnc and mesa 5i25. i made a 100 slot encoder disk for the spindle which works fine once i set my scale to 400(i now get proper DRO reading for one rev...
it uses a brushless dc system, so i guess it could be pretty noisy. i will look into it.
i got it working finally. thanks for your patience and help.
all i had to do was add a few lines into hal to reverse some pins and move my spindle wires on my BOB.
the only issue i have is...
anyone know where i need to put the 5i25 support software so it will work with mesaflash?
edit: got it to work by copying the .bit file to my home folder.
i reflashed it and reloaded the fpga and read the pinout and it does not match the pinout file. (channel numbers dont line up with the same pins) im assuming each axis is a channel when it comes to...
that worked. thanks! i thought it was installed already from the support software...
i updated to the latest linuxcnc right after installing from a cd about one month ago. i have mesaflash in my 5i25/utility/ folder. i just dont know how to use it. i have only just started using...

i ordered a 5i25 a while ago. i emailed mesa and never heard back(emailed twice asking about the ETA of the board). where is everyone at mesa? is there a supply issue of the 5i25?

i have tried some of the online how to's to get the xbox360 controller to...
i have a sieg sx2 mill. it uses 0-5v pot to change speed. i made a little optoisolated board that converts pwm to 0-5v for spindle rpm.
i will look into tuning the pc.
just upgraded to 2.6
what configs should i look at?
well before the mdi would not even let me type into it after a spindle start command. i would have to trigger e stop to reset. tried again today and now it works, but the computer seems to go slow...
i never actually used the parallel port on mach 3. but i was able to go over 6000mm/min with 5mm pitch screws and 8 microsteps without loosing any steps. the parallel port just seems to run rough...
thanks. this is encouraging. im hoping i can easily sort out my issues in linux cnc and convert over fully from mach3. (still had to boot up windows and mach to finish a part because of messed up...
ok.
so can the mesa card do high speeds even on a sort of slow pc?or is the max step frequency still limited by pc?
another issue i found is that i cant jog or enter mdi commands if i stop a program before it finishes.
hi. i built a cnc mini mill a few months ago and made lots of chips using mach 3 and ESS in demo mode i ran into the 500 line limit and it really bugged me. i dont really want to pay the near 200 usd...
best thing is to make a new mounting block with bearings so you can snug up the locknuts a little and preload the bearings.
