The probe or tool doesn't actually change length. My guess is that your Z home is inconsistent. I haven't calibrated my probe in years and it's still giving no indication of even .001 off.

I'm selling my shop. 2007 mini mill, rigid tapping, probe system, automatic tool measuring, 1100 cutting hours, only aluminum and plastic. Also included are 2 kurt 4" double vices, endmills, drill...
Someone's got a little chip on his shoulder...
You really went all in with that one...
You might cover the inside of the machine with newspaper and tape, or plastic bags. You can probably vacuum most of it out, but the real problem would be it getting into the coolant.
Bid Awarded.
Thanks everyone
Hello,
I am looking to have 100 - 200 of these pieces made. The 16 surface finish is not mandatory, but the surface needs to be as smooth as reasonably possible.
We have made many of these...
Just to avoid confusion, Pondo is saying you should NOT do this!
Are you manually entering the diameter of the previous tool? try posting it again and running it above the part to see if you get the same movements. Maybe it finished rest milling and moved on to...
how much extra does it cut into the surface?
Use backplot to check if the tool violates the surface while playing with settings. Double check your chains/surfaces and stock to leave etc..
If I were you, I would have the drill bit in a collet tool holder. I try to avoid using drill chucks for anything larger than 1/2". I'm skeptical about turning a drill bit down to fit properly in a...
How long are the flutes on the drill bit?

Cool. Thanks Geof. I feel better now.

Here is the video with clear audio of the sound I am hearing. What could it be?

LOL. You just blew up everyone's computers with that mile long string there! Nobody is going to run through all that.
Yes, I have the Haas Mini Mill. Right now I'm living in a nicer part of town with a bunch of older neighbors who are observant of loud college kids. Are you buying the machine new?
I have a mini mill inside my garage. By far the loudest thing is the air compressor, which is in a side closet under the stairs. I run my machine with the garage door open all the time. If I close...
I will get an audio or video clip up shortly.
You can run carbide into brass at 4000 rpm. If I were you I would run HSS first, because I don't think you'll see any performance gain from carbide if your max rpm is 4000. Try both, see which one...
I apologize for the very very late reply. The sound happens during programs also. The mini mill at school is the same year, and does not make the sound I am hearing. The VF2 and TM1's do not make...
Hello,
I'm trying to figure out if the 3/4 hp coolant pump upgrade from haas includes anything else besides the pump, motor, and adapter plate. (possibly a relay?) I'm trying to get one set up on...
My mini mill makes a sound i can describe as clicking when the z axis starts and stops. I only hear it when I have it set to .1 or .01 increments. It almost seems like something needs to be...
Hi Everyone,
I have Mastercam X. My new computer does not have a 25 pin parallel port, only USB. I have tried a few USB to parallel converters, but I just can't get my computer to recognize the...
Hey Nordic,
Try this first. Take the way covers off the Z axis so you can get to the ball screw. With the machine off, rotate the ball screw by hand so the spindle raises. Just go about an inch...
Go to your transform parameters, click the translate tab, set your # of Y movements to 0, set your # of X movements to the desired number of work offsets. The default is 2 and 2, which makes 4...
Thanks for all the input guys. I figured out Mike's method on my own yesterday and it makes what i'm trying to do quite easy. Mastercam has so many features and options and it's pretty easy to...
Hi,
I'm making 4 small parts at a time. They are the same parts. I will use 3 tools. I do not want to do a single part with three tools and then switch to the next part. I want to use tool 1...
