I downloaded it something is not right, no compound radii. OD too large, seating curve too small. Sprockets are quite forgiving it will probably go round!:rolleyes:

Yes, as stated calculate for 13 X 104 teeth at 20° Pressure Angle at 64 Diametral Pitch.

Here is a sample gear calc sheet!

The limit is the N.O.T. (number of teeth), in the pinion; the limits for the 20° system are 13/30 & higher, so if you want 8:1 it will have to be 13/104 teeth but at 48 DP your pitch dia's increase...

8:1 reduction on bevels may be exceeding the possible, (see Machinery's Handbook) for the calculations.

Minimum teeth in the pinion would be 13, with 31 min in the gear, so your 10 teeth...

There is also this type, with a cnc lathe you can get the form dead on. It's mounted eccentric to provide the clearance while cutting.

Hello, It's one of several aproximations, using a circular arc to represent the involute curve. Do not use that one myself, I take points on the involute, calculated with a simple spread sheet taking...

Apears to me as a 3.000" by 180 tooth Hirth Coupling, Another wonderfull Metric designed in Inches and converted to metric; could be cut on a Gleason # 3 straight bevel machine, tools would be a dog...

Material condition? solution treated, 180 to 230 Bhn. 25/95 ft/min, .002"/.004" per rev, tool material T-15, M41-M47, C-2 carbide.

Material condition Solution treated & aged, 250 to 320 Bhn....

Looks like more 20-29 group, than in 50-59, definitly peaked, but more youngsters than oldsters, but then again oldsters are moving on to the big shop in the sky.
