No alarm. Just sits there with the machine status flashing yellow. I'm not at the machine right now but I'll look for the diagnostic page later tonight. Thank you very much for the help.
What conditions will prevent the spindle from running?
The previous owner removed all the physical tools from the magazine but left them in the control. So, I detached all the tools in the magazine. I tried to detach the tool in the spindle but the...
I get a green light next to the tool clamp button on the spindle. When can i look for the door closed signal?
The tooling is from previous owner so pull stud should be ok.
Hey Guys,
I'm sure I'm doing something stupid. I just got this Okuma Genos M560 and I'm not that familiar with the control.
The problem is I've been unsuccessful at getting the spindle to run....
fomaz, Thanks for your idea. on the 5020 control there is no save for tool offsets that i know of. Control has a hexadecimal? counter in the the top left corner of some screens. When the counter...
I do use M2 at the end of the program. Have to check on the M30, don't think i have been using that. Do you have any more info regarding this strange behavior? Thanks
Have an '91 Okuma LB-15 with OSP 5020 control. I don't use the lathe very much and always shut it down when not in use. I was running a part the other day and needed to change my tool comp a few...
Thanks Al!
Just powered her up with the caps removed, no problems, no alarms. Should have the new caps Monday, I'll wait till then before I power it up again. Very possible a voltage transient came...
Better pic of the writing on the cap
Says: Q-F473K 630V
So, against better judgement, I fired up the Okuma LB15 the other day when it was raining outside and you could just feel the moisture in the air in the shop. I didn't have anything urgent to do,...
Yeh, I guess I got a good deal on the machine work. I went back 6 months later to have the same shop machine the z axis plates (3 steel plates, 1"x8"wide and 12-28" long, surfaced with a few holes...
The warm weather we have had lately motivated me to work on the Y axis improvement I have been planning. This was a simple mod in an effort to help improve on rigidity. I had previously bought extra...
I believe I-beam would be more flexible. Box cannot twist like open I-beam can. If I did it all over I would spend the extra $$ and made the base heavier. Machine want's to jump all over the place...
Machine work was about $2000
No updates. Just been using it.
Been a little too cold here to work on it but I did buy a few extra sets of bearing blocks. I plan on adding a third bearing block...
Thanks for the pointers. I'll have to try those methods. But I can't do it on this project though, I am limited to building the cover the same as what is aready on the machine. Our machines have 10...
Just a little update. Have not done any work to the cnc machine, but I have been using it.
Nothing real exciting... My boss needed these covers for a machine at work, so I volunteered to make...
Decided to drill and tap the table using a grid pattern of 1.5" left to right and a row spacing of 4" front to back. 186 holes total. Also bought a 3/8 clamp set. Got a few dowel pins for aligning...
I do occasionally scan ebay for fixture plates with t slots. May buy one if I can find one the right size locally. Until then I will use the alum table.
Anyone have any reccomendations for workholding? I can't mill T slots into the alum table because it will most likely warp it. So, I was planning on tapping a bunch of holes into the table like a...
Got my springs, that finished up the draw bar release  WOW! It's so easy to change a tool and I am not stuck with only being able to mount a 1/4" or 1/2" tool as before when I was using the PC...
Very Cool!!
I had thought of building a mill using steel tube like you did! I ended up going with a gantry style mill thinking I would have more ridgidity. I wonder if I should have built my mill...
Should have an update soon, been working the the drawbar release.
I have a Glacern 1" EM and I noticed you have to be very careful putting the inserts on it. They fit tightly against the shoulder and can be crooked or not seated all the way if your not careful,...
I have used the Micro100 Single Flute Carbide Routers before and they work well. This type of cutter will cover everything from plastic to aluminum. This is the part # for one of their 1/4" cutters...
Update,
I finished the spindle housing for the Kitamura BT30 spindle cartridge and got it mounted onto the Z axis along with the motor. Mounted two 75 lbs gas springs to alleviate about 80% of...
this guy did a one shot lube system on his z axis

You should give Sheetcam a look. Very simple to use, inexpensive and good for 2.5d work.
You're killing me!!!! I'm waiting in suspense to see this beast make some CHIPS!!!! Anyway, it's looking good. Nice job on the vacuum cart!
