Great work! Thanks for the post. I've got a few ideas on how to do mine now.

Did you end up moving your electronics? I'm looking at moving mine so I can move my mill against the wall. Once I move it, I won't have easy access to the rear.

There is some good info here on setting up the VFD Tips for Newbie Huanyang VFD users - Woodwork Forums
It doesn't matter for the three wires from the spindle. Just check to see if your spindle rotates clockwise. If it doesn't, then swap any two of the wires over to change the rotation direction.
Thanks for that. I was thinking my mill sucked, but this clears up exactly what was happening
Do you have any photos that show what you actually modified to achieve the extra travel?
Look forward to seeing what you come up with Keith.
Hi Mark,
I would much prefer to see the main menus remain on the left side when going down into sub menus. Makes it easier to jump around to different pages rather than going back to the home...
Hi Neil,
It certainly sounds interesting and some pics would help make it a bit clearer as to what you have done.
I'm not sure if I'll ever need tolerances more precise than 0.02 mm, but you...
Here are some update photos. I have the X Axis and Gantry assembled. I need to machine up some mounts for the Y Axis ballscrew and stepper next. Then get started on the Z Axis.
Yep, the ramp will send all the sawdust down to the collection bin where it will get emptied when full. The front where the collection box is will be enclosed with an opening to get the vacuum...
I thought I my post some pics of my router build so far. I'm using ITEM T-Slot extrusions for the frame.
Usable table size will be around 1400mm x 900mm (5' x 3').
If you get a copy of one of the Vectric products you could take a photo of the template, import the bitmap then trace vectors. It's a fairly simple process and should require only some minor...
No. The spindle has an internal fan that does the cooling, so you just connect the three power wires (+ an earth wire).
There are some people at work who do Chinese. I'm waiting on one other to do a translation to compare the two.
Here is a partial translation of the P code table from the manual. maybe P0055 is the one to set to prevent spindle burn out?
Here is a scanned copy of the Chinese manual pages 16-21, that details the code settings of the VFD.
If anyone is able to translate any of it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I went through the settings on my XIN YE ELECTRIC - YP-C1D5-2G against the ones that Scott listed from the partially translated manual.
My concern is the report that setting the minimum frequency...
A quick test run of my 1.5kw air cooled spindle and the XIN YE ELECTRIC - YP-C1D5-2G VFD

Bad luck about the blown component. :(
Could you email the manual Chai sent you? I'll PM you my email address.
I'll try and wire up my spindle during the week and hopefully not let any magic...
Hi Scott,
I just received my 1.5kw air cooled spindle from Chai yesterday. Yep, I too was hoping for a Huanyang vfd but got the same brand as yours.
My model is YP-C1D5-2G
I hope there is...
Great work! This is a 100% improvement on what I got with mine and will help with new owners.
There is certainly more that can be added to but it is a great base document. Are all Syil dealers...
Wow, Nice work Cliff! Let us know how it all goes when you make some chips.
Hi Ed,
Did you happen to take any photos of the "webbing" under the top during construction? How are you doing the enclosure?
Even 6000 rpm is almost double the speed and from the sounds of it would be a cheaper and safer target.
I'm certainly interested to see where this goes. I'm not sure if I can offer anything much more than encouragement.
Thanks for that. It's a bit hard to tell from the website, but is the unit suitable to have castor wheels on the base so it can be moved around?
Hey all,
Can anyone who has a SHG1212 let me know how much floor space is needed to fit it.
