Hello folks, sorry I didn't communicate for awhile (a series of events happened with family, friends and my employment which sort of took priority for a while). I'm hoping to get back to building my...
Looks like the newsletter will be 8~12 pages long now. We could ask past project builders to submit articles about their CNC machine and even current builders. We could leave a 4 month lag time so...
Glad you guys like it. Benny, you were the writer of the article, 'Cutting Aluminum Frames' but I couldn't put you down as a contributing editor because of the little note in the editor's box. ...
Duluthboat,
I think you really are on to something. I noticed that there really isn't much on DIY CNC on the newstands (Home machinist sometimes has a simple article). A newsletter with maybe a...
What I mean is a section call 'Video Section' or rename the 'Photo Gallery' to 'Photo/Video Gallery'. This way it is more intuitive and more members know that this is a option. Just a thought.
I think a monthly newletter would be a great idea. To cover postage, make it available to those with yearly donations of $30 or more. I won't mind writing a article every 3 months.
As a...
It looks to me that you may have 'racking' issues with the gantry. The y-axis, as it pushes into the work piece from the side will cause the rectangular gantry to become a parallelogram. You need...
I would like to know why you went with servo's instead of steppers? Again great job and good luck
Thanks Txfatboy, from the various threads posted on the site, I realized that servo's suited my...
Hey Benny
shopbot has something similar for their machine, I was planning to use some of the elements in their vacuum scheme in my machine. I've also seen this type of setup in other machines. (I...
Well, sorry for the delay, but I had a car 'accident' and my car was out of commission for a few weeks. Nobody hurt but the car did need some work. (Couldn't drive to the hardware store to get...
WOW, looks like a miniture F-16. Does it really fly?
I am a newbie here, should I use steppers or servos? :D
Only kidding Benny, I will be giving my project more time in Sept and hopefully have a pdf file ready in October or November. Got into a...
Just a side thought, from my personal experience, I've noticed that PC uses larger bearings that many of the other router manufactors in the 3hp catagory. This is one of the reasons this PC router...

H'mm, I think I will try a Rainier tommorrow.
what are going to do with it?
here is a website that shows the fundamentals of a power supply. It has diagrams which makes it real easy to understand whats happening.

I didn't know you can make a spotwelder with a microwave power supply. Do you have any plans or a website I can turn to?
excellent video benny, I didn't realize your machine was that big. (You got to do something about all that spaghetti)
I think I need to explain a little futher, I have forstner bits which I use for woodworking. The problem I was trying to relate was that some ball bearings do not come in standard sizes. One set I...
Hey Mark
A little tip on boring holes to hold the bearing. Since I'm making my bearing blocks in Aluminium, ran into the problem of not having the proper size flat bottom bit to make the hole to...

Hey Gerry, what happened to the thread, did you stop building your machine?
how did that happen?, excuse the vomit on my keyboard...
Plenty of minor cuts and splinters but thank goodness I have all my digits. (I'm a carpenter).
I will be using these bearings on my y-axis. It will be spinning about 600~800 max. Hopefully I won't have any problems.
I guess these would be called angular contact bearings
I actually used it twice before but it doesn't appear unless I put it in quotes
Maybe you guys have noticed but the word 'accident' doesn't appear when you type it in. Is there a reason for it?
Thanks for sharing these stories, it helps to remind you of the importants safety. One of the tools that always scared me is the radial arm saw. I know two people who had s with them...
