You are very close to cutting chips. Approach with caution. Would advise taking vises and fixtures off the table and practice with no tools until you fully understand the offsets.

Paul,
Ask this question in the HAAS forum section on Practical Machinist website. There is a larger group of Haas owner operators there to help.

Seems Harbor freight is getting a good rep these days with some of their tools and certainly their new line of tool boxes and carts.
Hearing really good things about the Eastwood Elite QST-30/60...
That is all good information and I appreciate every bit of it. I am told that the horsepower on a Haas was just a sales tool and doesn't even come within 50% of that claim.
With that said, also...
Hello, I have an old Haas machine, soon to be two in my garage shop.
Desperately needing to upgrade my compressor but not sure power-wise if Ill have enough to go around. ???
Have 100 amp service...
??? If you mean the spindle sheet metal cover, there may be screws at the top on the backside also. Holding a captive piece of sheet metal for rigidity, like on a VF2???
...wait. What year is...
Not sure what a VM2 looks like under the hood, but on a VF2 you get a good view of the leaky places below
Look at the 0:35 second mark and the 1:30 second mark for the side plates on the casting...
Your machine is not that sensitive and many times witchcraft is not the problem. Go thru and make sure every screw terminal is 'manly' tight. From the house to the garage to the breaker panel to the...
Mike, thank you but I am actually currently running fine.
The msg was an old one that another user cut and pasted and referred to.
I am helping him with my wiring schematics.
May take you up on...
You sent me another PM but my mailbox is full.
I didn't get it. so resend or post here.
Diagrams attached.
Let me know if it helps.
LOL, First thing I thought of too. But no, it ended up being a following error in the servo drives. Got it much closer with some blind luck tuning.
I said HSMworks, because I tried the trial version...
Understanding your investment in SW and even started out with Solidworks myself over 15+ years ago. It was neat. Opened my eyes to a new world.
However, the simple fact for me is that Inventor was...
It is true that solidworks has gained a lot of ground throughout the last 10+ years. But Autodesk owns the HSM protion that Solidworks is using. Fusion 360 and AutoDesk Inventor HSM Pro have put both...
Roger,
I'm running AC servos, but do not know much about what their individual internal settings should be. My Mach 3 acceleration setting on all axis is set at 35. As I set the number lower, the...
Can't seem to find a source for 3/4" or 20MM HDF here in Dallas Texas area. (or anywhere)
I'm not a wood guy, but even I have heard of it. Just didn't think it was rare. Much less unobtainium.

HELP!
This is more of a question for the advanced users and tech guys. I believe it may have something to do with the internal workings of Ethernet smooth-stepper or perhaps even the Mach3.
...
What are you referring to with these numbers? I'm not seeing microstep settings anywhere.

Ger21,
How can I tell? Better yet is there somewhere that I can edit the 'trajectory planner'?
My machine has almost ZERO backlash. I have no tool deflection issues and have taken finishing...
Yeah, looks good on pricing and selection. And I'm also in Texas so I went ahead and ordered some tools from him.
Thanks Ben.
Jon,
I had my LOOKAHEAD set too low. That may have been the cause of the undersized holes using contouring.
Don't know for sure yet until I can run something similar but it helped in other areas...
Roger,
Thank you. I do seem to know stuff like that when I'm out in the shop, but for some reason I drop IQ points
and forget little details like that when I am in here on the computer. The...
Hey daniellyall,
What make & model is your reliable, dream to use machine?
Steppers or servos? What type of guides?
Im running an ISO30 tool change spindle on my Mach 3 machine and I want to be able to put all my tools in the spindle
one at a time and measure them just once using the auto tool zero and 'add' them...
Hello, Been looking into mounting a camera on my CNC router for visually setting X & Y datum.
Have never seen the screen until yesterday when my camera came in. Plugged it in just to see
what it...
I am interested to do this. Could you please elaborate with more detail on what I need to do and how to measure?
Ger21,
Tried taking pictures with what I have and nothing illustrates what I was seeing very well.
I'm beginning the process of setting up a video camera to do the crosshair zeroing and
will...
Rounded corners in Mach3 appears to have been a topic of many discussions on this forum.
I'm only trying to make a good 2D rectangular cutout. Have tried many different feed and
speed...
Jon,
Have an HSM related question.
Will be doing a lot of cutting, roughing and finishing using the same tool but after all my roughing operations would like to stop the spindle, move the...
