A search for limit switch filter should turn it up pretty quick, there aren't many options out there which is why I made this.
This is nonsense.
Filters are used because they raise noise immunity and vastly increase reliability of systems in the real world where everything isn't perfect and equipment still needs to work...
My motion control board should have filtering on the input pins, but it's a cheap chineese board and it doesn't. It just has pull up resistors.
If I had higher quality board, there would be no...
Been running the filter board for over a year now. Got a few hundred hours on the machine and zero issues!
Here's some updates on the machine. Includes extensive temperature testing, development of oil system, and test cuts to 1.2 cubic in/min in alloy steel!

Yeah I read that on there from either you or someone else. Mine sticks too so I've been doing as you say to loosen it.
Right now I'm setting it up to use an air blast with oil mist to lubricate...
You..... were right!
I got it setup with the 3KW to drive the original headstock/spindle with a 2:1 pulley so I can go up to 6K. Well, like you said, temps took off. I was careful and watched it...
For anyone else who wants to know, it's a 12mm shaft.
Anyone know the diameter of the motor on the PM25?
CL_MotoTech, do you happen to know the shaft size of the factory PM-25 pulley that goes on the 1HP motor? Is it 12mm by chance?
Thinking of setting up my 3KW spindle to just spin a pulley that...
Good point. I will keep an eye on it if I go any higher on the RPM.
How did you setup the oiler on yours for the spindle bearings? Do you circuilate oil to the bearings? Mist? How does it work?
This was running 1800 RPM. I did see it get to 158*F after about I finished machining. So it went up some but that would be expected.
Yeah I'm pretty happy with it now.
Question for ya. What...
Well good news. Got all the parts in yesterday. Today I installed the new bearings, good grease, set preload to what I think is about right.
Also made a 3D printed spacer that takes out ALL the...
Good to know!
Another question. How did you attach the pulley? Did you buy a pulley, or machine an adapter? Any pics?
Thinking of replicating what you did, it sounds like a great solution.
So on the PM 25, if I put the pulley as you describe, it would be about 4 or 5 inches above the upper tapered roller bearing.
Is that how it turned out on your machine?
Any pictures detailing this? I assume you had to do some type of bearing for the pulley at a minimum.
Well, I ended up tearing down my 12K RPM 3KW spindle. The dang thing has SPRINGS in it to take up slack and apply a small amount of preload on the bearings. And this is certainly why under heavy...
CL_MotoTech, you're still running the original spindle setup, right? I see you've replaced bearings, and upgraded the motor for higher RPM, but same cast iron spindle?
My 3KW spindle I posted...
I had a similar problem for a long time. I ended up making a custom Limit Switch Filter Board that has I connect between my switches and my electronics that cleans up the signals and stopped my false...
It can probably do more, I just haven't pushed it to be honest. I use this occasionally, often when not making a mistake is more important than cycle time or cutter life. I would like to do some test...
I have a PM25, but I built a new headstock and put a 12K RPM 3.0KW spindle on it. So my numbers aren't directly comparable vs a stock machine.
However the stiffness problem is still the same. What...
I appreciate your willingness to diagnose possible underlying problems with my machine. The one thing you are correct about, is that the filter board slows down the reaction time. That is an...
I never did the earth bonding. I just hooked all the ground wires together. But yeah I'm glad this cured the problem, even if the grounding is still not perfect, my issue is fixed so I'm happy and...
My limit switches are fine, the problem was noise while it was machining parts causing it to freeze up in mach 3. The machine would think a limit switch triggered, but the machine was not touching...
Thought I would share my limit switch noise solution. I searched here looking for answers a couple years ago when my PM25 CNC conversion kept getting false triggers on the limit switches. I wired in...
As an update, it turns out my vise clamping was not correct. I fixed that, and got a new 1/2" rougher, used HSM advisor for feeds/speeds, and was able to do 3 cubic inches per minute no problem at...
Thanks! I am going to try some new settings. I actually discovered I was clamping the part wrong and it was vibrating in the vise. I reclamped it, put a busted up worn our 1/2" end mill in the...
Ok, so I was just bought the wrong VFD. Does anybody know what VFD would work with a 3KW spindle and 220V with 800hz? The VFD I have now is 2.2kW and that is enough power, I don't ever run the...
Just got these, values are:
A004: 400.0
A003: 400.0
A082: 220
A044: 00
B012: 11.0
H003: 3.0
H004: 4
I have a Precision Mathews PM-25 MV that is converted to CNC. I installed a custom Jian-Ken brand 3KW, 12k RPM spindle on the machine. It's powered by a 2.2kW VFD, a WJ200. The new spindle is a...
