Regarding the idiocy of my original post... sorry to offend some individuals with such a dumb question. I find...
Looks great! OK so the problem must be with my setup.
Thanks very much for doing all of that work. I wish my MACHINE could cut that out in 48 seconds. :( With my spindle and machine I'm lucky...
That is correct.
I'm pretty new to all of this as you can probably tell. I think that the problem might be in where I'm setting the zero for the y.
The stock is 12x20x.5". I zero at the top of the material.
I have a relatively simple file here that isn't cutting properly. I'm using a 1/2" cutter to do four operations: two pockets and two contours. The resulting product is a clamshell box.
When I...
I grew up in London. :-) Nice to find another smeg head!
I might just do that. If I got some of those and then clamped some MDF to the top of THAT then I'd really be cooking. PLUS I'd get to use my angle grinder so that makes it extra fun!
The current material is 1/2" ply. I might try some of that melamine-covered chipboard that they sell at Lowe's. Maybe some corian?
I really appreciate the input. I don't see it as criticism at all. I'm pretty frustrated with this machine and I wouldn't buy it again if I had it to do over again.
I was thinking along the same...
My machine has a 24x12 cutting area. The top (bed?) that came with it is 3/4" plywood but it is warped and so the middle is considerably lower than the edges.
The top/bed spans the entire 24...
OK I'm at a loss. I figured out why the machine was kachugging though. The bolts holding the guide rails into the board were too long and they hit the underside of the gantry when it moved BECAUSE...
They DID have the power stick and that was VERY cool. That expands the capability of the machine considerably. I think that it sells for $900 or so.
So I'll replace the nut. The bed isn't made...
I was talking to another hobbyist that had bought their $6000 machine. I asked him what he had made with it and he said "Oh just a couple of $1500 business card holders." We had a good laugh over...
I just got a reply from the builder:
So that seems pretty reasonable. That will help to normalize the bed...
I'll take the sacrificial board and the permanent board off and then I can get to the bed. I hate having to do surgery on something I didn't build! At least I'll know how to repair it in the...
Very astute. Even at slow movements (6.0, for example) the machine binds in that long direction. The motor and screw continue to turn but it's almost as though the screw is not threaded right on...
Here's a picture of one from the guy's website:

Mine is very similar except for the cutter and the bed has two 1/4" aluminum tracks for holding...
Oh it's not an inch... maybe a quarter inch over the 20 inch travel. It seems to have a bump in the middle though.
I plopped a slab of MDF as a new sacrificial bed on the machine and planed it. ...
I bought a simple 3-axis machine that uses a rotozip as a spindle. The machine is perfectly adequate for my needs in terms of power. I've noticed a problem lately, however.
If I have the gantry...
I have been electroplating but the pieces need to be polished to a very fine reflectivity. The electroplating is .5 mil which can sustain maybe three or four polishes before it wears through.
The...
I need to clad plates up to about 9x9". I'd like to use very thin fine silver (.999) plates and clad them to a substrate of some kind... copper, brass, whatever. The plates need to be perfectly...
The mastersCNC is made of HDPE and is very well built. It is not made out of particle board as KustomKoncepts suggests (did you even READ the link?) I bought one and I don't regret it. I use it to...
Hey folks. I haven't shared anything yet but I was wondering if anyone had any fancy mat shapes like those shown in these pictures? I'll be cutting them out of brass. They don't have to have the...
Hey Switcher, could you describe your process of going from "art to part"? Specifically, I like what you're doing with the round hanging medallions wherein you insert some graphic, IE the butterfly,...
Cool projects, cadcam. I'm struggling with Art and text at the moment. I'd love to make some simple signs with graphics and warping text but I'm not sure that Art was the way to go... Are there...
I want to make some of these things:

These photographic mats are made of brass (I've been using .02-.04"). I can route the basic shapes out on my hobby...
Thanks for posting all of these. Can you tell me how you made this file? I've been struggling with getting useful text on a hanging medallion like you've made here. Did you draw it in Illustrator...
Hey that's great, cadcam! How did you draw your original piece? Sketch and import into Art?
So it's been a while since I got my Eagle but do they have a CNC badge now? haha
Can you tell me how fast it's supposed to go?
