Don't worry about that... keep posting up. I am enjoying the reading.
Not yet.. Been too busy with other projects, unfortunately. I have been gathering the parts though. I plan to do something close to your build. I have an older HF mill with the tilting column, but...
Glad to see you are back at it!. Will be following along.

But for something tiny, like an X2 mill with steppers? Would that be a waste?
So if I have appropriately sized motors, I don't need gear reduction?
Thanks for the answer!
I was watching a couple videos (on YouTube) on a converted X2 to CNC. In one of the videos, the guy had direct drive on all 3 axes and stated he was going to "upgrade to gear reduction". This has me...
Very nice. I may have missed it before... did you do this from plans or is it self designed?
Eric

So I have started to acquire some of the funds to convert my HF 7x mini lathe. I downloaded the plans from http://jfettigmachines.com/

It does look a little big... whatcha gonna use it for? Are you going to offer the plans for sale? I would be interested in them.
Eric
Thanks!

Pretty new to Alibre Design Express... Playing around with it now. Question though, how do I make a slash cut in a tube? Say I have a tube with a 3.95" radious that is about 12" in length and .10...
