I have both the BF30 (not the Optimum BF30 but Weis-like BF-30) and the BF20. I've had the BF20 since 2005. (they've been around here in Europe for quite some time) The results you're talking about...
I will post the model in a few weeks when I'm done building in a separate thread with pictures etc. some things I'm building slightly different in the real world then in the model.
I assume you mean you have to dismantle the ceiling to remove the z- sadle?
The direct mounting would require you to remove the spindle and it sounds you have to dismantle the ceiling for that...
I would eliminate this setup all together and mount the spindle directly to the sadle. I haven't studied your design but it seems you're using the original 'spigot' block between spindle and sadle....
I'll bet my horses on it :-)
Info, info, info! where did you get this spindle?

Funny, that's me in those video's :-)
Don't forget I'm slapping that column at the top which is of course where it is at its worse. By the way all those columns are the same so the problem will...
I have both the BF20 and the BF30. I used a floating construction to mount the columns to a solid wall. Here's a video showing the flex on my BF30 and the difference after mounting to the wall. This...

about a year ago I tried to machine gibs for my BF-20. I made some from brass and some from very expensive bronze. They were all bent due to stresses in the material that show up after machining. I...
