my guess: exact stop mode (G61) and the curve is being broken into many short short line segments.
Pretty awesome build you've got there Nate. Looking forward to seeing a video showing the whole machine in action one of these days. Beautiful work, keep it up!

Congrats on the sale. One small step for a vmc... a giant leap for... everyone who is following your thread and pulling for you!
d*mmit. getting harder and harder to justify *not* acquiring the 3d printer habit. resistance is futile!
keep at it- you're making good progress. Can't wait to see the video of first chips!
the slot doesn't have to be too deep before chips start getting re-cut. Once they weld to cutting tool, it goes down hill really fast.
I have a 90lpm pump (might be 110, can't remember now) w/...
you might try disconnecting the encoder cable and wiring encoder A & B to Enc Gnd with really short jumpers right at the gecko. Don't command any motion on the axis, or the servo will run away! ...
fingers crossed.
Loved seeing the picture of chips made, for a paying job no less! Hang in there, it'll work out.
I'm a servo guy. I have years of experience with many motion control systems thanks to my day job.
For made in China hobby mills and lathes, servos are (for the most part) lipstick on pig.

From the reviews I've read, the 8x14's are a better choice than the 7xXX's out there for rigidity and bang/buck. I haven't owned either, I'm just offering a quick summary of what I've read over the...
Do you sell gift certificates? I could pay now for some parts I have in mind later. Might get you up and running, then in a few months we can hash out how to make what I've got in mind.
I bet...
There is a lot of information spread around in different posts of this thread.
If you don't mind, can you please explain how I can get from A to B with your product, A being where I am today (a...
bigger bench... that's funny. Pete, I want to keep up with your continued adventures too. If you start another thread somewhere else, please post a link here so I can subscribe.
set the counts/rev low, like 400 or so. The torque/rotor inertia ratio is crazy, which makes tuning a challenge to say the least.
another reason (probably more important than my previous example) is the Program Files vs Program Files (x86) thing. If someday you make a x86 version instead of a x64 version (or vice versa...
Installing the application & .dlls to C:\Program Files is fine. configuration and user data files should go in an application data folder, typically something like C:\Users\xxx\My Documents\yyy,...
dwalsh, why don't you proceed with your own design?
kind of curious about the ISO25 & BT30 spindle choice. Why? Seems like R8 & Tormach TTS get great reviews around here and are just about all anyone uses for quickchange or ATC holders.
With that...
i chased down a similar deflection problem w/ my homemade mill recently. It will help a lot if you can use a few indicators simultaneously. Push on the head, see the .003-5" deflection on one...

A few months ago I bought a TM motor, it's as close to the one Hoss show's on his G0704 as I could find on ebay. I think it was $80 with shipping. I added a CUI encoder (102v- horizontal cable...
heat is a consideration for sure. I use a Nema 34 BLDC servo for my spindle motor and it gets quite hot. I thermal-epoxied some big (relative to the motor size) heat sinks to the 4 sides, and it...
it sounds like you like the router better, but you haven't gone into any detail about why you need to sell, why the mill is in an office while the router is in a garage, why you need a machine and...
With 3d printing is it possible to print out the bottom part of a piece, machine it, and then put the machined part back in the 3d printer and print the top part? Obviously alignment is an issue,...
lots of Sherline stuff on ebay. For grease, Sherline recommends "Super Lube", a synthetic grease, also available on ebay.
your best bet is probably to sell it on eBay. I'm guessing you'll get somewhere between $500-1k for it. Depending on how much effort you are willing to put into it... the low effort route would be...
I started with a Sherline mill and have modified/upgraded everything on it to the point where the spindle is the only sherline part left on it. I use a 650W brushless motor to drive the spindle,...
I personally would be interested in an XY table similar to what Widgitmaster used to produce. I've been interested in your spindle designs that you've posted in the past, and some of the other CAD...
