In Mach3's "general settings" did you uncheck "b-axis angular"?
is the plasma cutter nozzle installed on the machine with the ground clamp attached to the frame? I don't have a plasma machine so take what I say for what its worth (not much :) ) . With your...
just checked my programming, (ess, pmdx-126, proximity sensors. Only difference that i can see is I have A-- turned off. have you tried with it off?
when my machine homes, it does not matter what...
small update,
after 2 weeks I finally found some time to do some more troubleshooting
Just finished running the exact same g code, in the air spindle and vfd powered down, same result, z axis about...
hi there streetrod,
How has the machine been working for you?
Got any big cuts out of it yet?
Would like to see some pictures of your new base if you have any!
How do you plan controlling the vfd with mach 3? I use a usb-485 converter with the french plugin, and if i kill power to the vfd and then turn it back on, mach 3 will not comunicate with the vfd...
HI there, Justin.
I used 1/8" wall square tubing. To attach the piece of Baltic to the top of the frame, I drilled .25" into the wood with a .75" forstner bit, then using the center point left by...
My machine is bolted using 90deg brackets to a 3/4" sheet of plywood that is bolted to a 2" steel square tube frame. I don't notice much vibration, but on the rapid accel/decels the whole machine...
Are the lines going the same way your bit was rastering? If so is it possible you just have your stepover too high? I know lines start becoming visable at around 20%. i usually cut lithopanes and 3d...
I should of put that in the last post, i know plunge is only the straight down at the begining, and that the rest of the raster is done at the set feedrate or the max velocity set in motor tuning....
Got the test ran today. ran the program a bit slower, without the gas strut, and after dismantling the z axis yesterday and inspecting/ cleaning everything. and got the exact same result, was +.05...
yes the velocity setting is the max speed your machine will ever be allowed to move
Ger's method will work as well, so you have a few options.
in mach 3 under config, motor tuning, lower the velocities.
the gecko 201x drive is fixed at 10 microsteps.
I understand what your saying about the voltage, and i may go to a bigger power supply as the drives are rated upto 80v, what gets me is this exact...
Louieatienza - There was a typo in my previous post z was at 30 and 250 -however the project is running at a z plunge of 100 so its never seeing the max speed
Haven't had much time to tinker in...
Sounds like you have two separate problems.
#1: when you power down the stepper driver the z axis lowers and hits the table? - It means you have enough weight on your z axis to overpower the powered...
my current z settings under motor tuning is 250ipm with a 30 accel. The problem is strange as when running the z axis by itself (program runs up.5 back to zero, up to .5 back to zero,) 1500 times i...
Hi there, Unfortunately my control computer is one of those dell minis with no room for expansion. if it comes down to it i will track down a old computer.
-I am running the stepper with a gecko...
It appears so! :D
Il lay the blame on windows 8. Haven't figured out how to see the original orientation of the picture in windows 8 as it auto rotates.
Hi there,
Rich
Thank you for the suggestions,
- all 3 axis steps per have been accurately set, as well as the backlash (aprox .002 on each axis)
-Im not sure how the weight of the spindle could...
Ive had the machine running for a little while now, and have ran a few complex pieces (lithopanes and a 2.5d wall tile) as good tests, aside from problem with the z axis gaining + over time its been...
Now that my machine is up and running, I decided to put it through its paces with a fairly complex 23"x23" 2.5d carving. I've ran the piece twice and have the same results both times. the Z axis...
Hi there, I traced them in Inkscape.
According to the scale of the drawing I made the out of shap holes a diameter of .125"
Hope it Works for you!
I would start with chucking up a dial indicator in the spindle and running it back and forth on the machine table in the direction that your loosing depth. If that checks out do the same with the...
bit of progress today, got the dust shoe cut out and installed. I am amazed at the edge quality of the acrylic even without the spoil board being surfaced or spindle trammed, its a much better...
Used 3/4 maple as the base surface on the machine cutting surface. Used 1/4" button head bolts and t nuts to mount the sheet to the table. The maple has also been slotted for t track. glued a 27x48...
The 2.2kw spindle and vfd came from CHAI from linearmotion2008 on ebay. the quality seems pretty good. I ran igus 16g 4 conductor sheilded wire from vfd to spindle.
The only disappointment with the...
WOW. Cant believe how long its been since I have updated this thread. the machine is up and running now just working on some accuracy issues. I will start the updates from where i left off, as I do...
I wonder what the material cost would be on remaking them yourself? might be worth the saved aggravation of not having to look at them?
as for the repeatably problem, its got me stumped, I am hoping...
those are some ugly uprights, have you gotten any reply from Nate as to why the quality is so poor? I cant think of an excuse that would ever work for this situation...
on a related note, have you...
