This originally was a k40 laser that I made into a 12x24. Really the only thing left is maybe a little wiring. When I did all that I bought the monport k40 board to use light burn. This started...

So I just put this machine together. The attached pic is what happens at every direction change. It’s not as bad in the x as it is in the y. It over steps and then self corrects.
I’ve checked,...
This is for a x3 I'm guessing?

Might have to make that happen soon. Need some ideas for this miserable sx3.

So this is dead in the water huh?

So has anyone figured this out? seems to just be solidcam as i never had a issue with mastercam. you can see in the pic where it happened. only happened on the top and bottom arcs of the circle...
I'm interested 100%. If shot doesn't happen I'll just drive to Wisconsin and force Alessi to hang out with me. Jenson what are you trying to cut? 3d? 2d?

I have this issue with no electronics hooked up to the mill. It is purely mechanical.

Right that's why I know it's not the stepper be cause it happens with nothing installed on the screw at all. I was doing a 3d part and all of a sudden **** went nuts. I figured I missed steps and...
been using the machine for over a year now. I do have a gas strut. gibs are not too tight. when i move the pully directly attached to the screw i have the same effect. the screw moves but there...
Ok so the Z on this machine has been a ongoing issue since I bought this machine. I have slowly tried to work out most of them by bolting the column to the wall and what not. The other day I was...
so now that the column is bolted to the wall its easier to see what is actually moving around. It is the head on the column itself. The gib is tightened down to the point of almost being too tight...
I was back and forth about the LMS spindle control. CNC4pc also has this CNC4PC that i was looking at as i need to order some stuff from them anyway. I have a control box with vfd so assume it will...
Ok 3 of us are interested. No one else has even responded. Was just pointing out that spot in Chicago has actually got their **** together.

Doesn't seem like anyone is interested at all. There is a hackerspace in Chicago called pumping station one. Check out some videos on YouTube. There is a walk through of the place. Other than that...
When I get back down there I'll try to remember. I took the 2 small bolts at the top and drilled and tapped them for 6mm (I have lots of metric hardware). Cut a piece of 1/4" plate that covered the...
Thank you got the reply. I found that there is something going on with the actual part itself. If i do a basic xform mirror on any other part all the tool paths follow. On this part it wasnt the...
So i got sick of trying to figure out little ways to improve the flex and just bolted the mill straight to the wall. I have to say its a different mill now. Highly suggest it if you can do it. ...
nothing huh? not possible? stupid question?
Ive done a little searching.. not a ton as im at work. I have a left side done and need to take that and mirror it. I can xform mirror no problem but is there a way to get the tool paths to go with...
Come on people. Let's put something together!

I am also down to meet up once a month or so. if there is anyone around let me know. GTPCNC i would love to help out but sadly im one of those "ill let the software do it all for me" people. I do...
well i think im yielding pretty similar results and im real close to the gib being too tight as well. Im hoping this cleared up a little backlash as well. I guess its time to recalibrate everything...
i had the screw all the way out and tightened the top screw while slowly turning the z pully with my hand. I got it to the point where it would bind out and still had the same head nod. the bottom...
yea so if the screw is out enough and not in the recessed hole it just wants to bend. super solid design.
Thanks for the info. The whole z gib setup just seems to be a hot mess of a design. The screw at the top and bottom barely grabs the little lip on the gib and since i have the bottom screw so far...
ok so checked the runout and its very acceptable. Next i checked how bad the head nod was. WOW... Its miserable. I did what I found in the "adjusting the z gibb" post and it didn't help at all. ...
i have gotten to the point that i put the feed rate at about 3 or 4 and just override it really low in mach3 on initial entry and try to increase it if i can. As far as spindle speed goes, since it...
I have tried to physically moved the head with no result. I am going to check out everyone's suggestions tonight when i get home. Just wanted to to see what others have experienced. Thank you for...
That is because it happens regardless of the endmill flute, size, and material. What I am currently using are 2 and 4 flute TiCN Niagara cutters.
