    Re: Vaccum problem

Yeah cant argue with splitting the system.

Mine runs 3 separate vac pumps - each sucks down a max 3200mm x 1200mm. Has a cutout so can shut off 1000 off each pump, so can reduce this to 2200x...
  2. Re: We do you guys buy your stock? Steel, mainly aluminium in Australia?

Buy a fair bit from Direct Aluminium, mainly cause they have a local branch. Buy mainly sail track extrusion for caravan work. On occasion some stuff for trucks.
HQ is in Geelong. Also have...

    Re: Slideway Oils

Just been using ISO46 in gearboxes of my manual stuff. Recon 32 would leak out too easily.

As mentioned already sewing machine oil can be a bit thin, especially around here in summer. But...

    Re: Vacuum matting in Oz?

Found just about any flexible plastic (wrapping) works. PVC fabric offcuts work well, if you have access to that kind of thing. Easy to push around the table if its large.

Re: After a local CNC Router

thanks to Phomann. that Vermac router has the same kind of vac pump (side channel blower) as my unit. Always on the lookout for alternatives as I get the impression that parts are gunna be quite...

Did the same as many before purchasing my unit, looked at the offerings from abroad. The pricing compared to something from oz was vastly different, as I'm sure you all are aware.

    Then it dawned...

    Re: Importing a machine

Enlisting a customs broker would be a good bet.

doing a search for posts of those who have done it before is my suggestion for starters.

dare I say try searching on "Metalwork Forums", because...
  8. Re: Building Hobby CNC need advice with part choices?

Interesting to see what the end product looks like, but i recon you would have to sink somewhat more than 3K to get what you are after.

    Absolutely

    Re: Suitable table surfaces

    I'm in central Vic.

Mine is a vacuum table with ally "boards" underneath the actual cutting area. From underneath they remind me a bit of the ally planks they use to make the floor of ute...

    Re: Suitable table surfaces

I'm guessing your table isn't large. On mine they have HDPE. Don't ask what the cost was, cause I don't know.

Maybe a trip to a local plastics joint will get you an offcut of suitable size.

Re: RaptorX german CnC gantry question

Not meant as a hijack, theres not really much to tell about it.

Its a store bought unit, just a cutter/plotter. Not a router as such, no height adjustment in Z direction. In fact that part is...

Cant help you on how much juice in total it pulls, however I will draw off my own experience with my largish cutter/plotter (3200 x 3600mm). Maybe it could help you.

Re: Material sourcing in New Zealand

Yeah am always selling offcuts to the small "backyarders". My racket is canvas, so can't recycle it.

I figure its that or having to pay to dispose of it.

Re: Material sourcing in New Zealand

I can't vouch for NZ, but locally over here I just go to to places that make/repair plastic items and get off cuts.

    X-Y travel track

Anyone know/seen any suppliers in Oz that may have this. It has an adhesive back and in this case measures 25 mm across.

A continuous toothed belt (like an auto timing belt) meshes in with...

    Re: Alignment problem

As for the HDPE on my cutter table, well to date,...
  23. Re: Newbie looking to get started for minimal outlay (preferably second hand)

Yes the table size just never seems to be big enough. One would think 3600 mm long on my cutter/plotter would suffice. But then you get jobs that require 5000 plus.

But to upsize my table would...

    Soon to arrive: Cutter/plotter
