Starting back on this project. My new business has taken up all of my time in the last few months. I have built the circuit board from the HobbyCNC kit. All tested perfectly first time. I have...
Hi Lafayette,
can't give you any specific help at the moment. I can check when I am back home in case I have anything in the way of a different email address.

Hi All,
I have finished the basic frames as you can see. Now it is onto the electronics and soldering the cables onto the steppers before mounting them to the frame.
Jason...
Hi Scott,
clever idea with using the slides upright. If I have any issues with mine I will modify it to match your design. You have certainly created a stiffer gantry style design.

Hello All,,,,,,,or anyone?

Hello All,

Hi All,
I got my HobbyCNC driver board yesterday. I will make it up over the weekend and finish off the second Y-Axis.
Here is the photo that did not post last time.

Hi Greg,
thanks for the info. I get what you mean about the hinge line approach you take. A nice way of doing it.
Thanks
Jason
Thanks for clarifying that. I was understanding it directly controlled the CNC itself.

Hi Greg,
I am looking at Profili as software for my machine. Any more thoughts on how good it is, ease of learning, etc now you have presumably been playing with it for a while?
Have...

Hi Crashman,
I got the plans within a few seconds. The plans arrived via an automatic email so I suspect a problem with the address or server.

Hi All,
I am looking at using the Profili software to drive my foam cutter. It looks to do exactly what I want for RC wing cutting. Has anyone got experience with this software?
Thanks

It is all screwed together, no glue or nails.
Here it is...
Thanks for the comments.
I do agree the epoxy only fixing of the leadscrews is vulnerable to breaking. I will be using some form of a stop to assist. I might use some washers screwed into the MDF...
Just got an email saying my controller board and steppers have been shipped from HobbyCNC. I have all the bits to get started on Sunday assembling the Axes.

Hi Scott,
did you get your pulleys and belts from the states, or a re you going ballscrews, I forget?
Jason
HI Scott,
did you get pulleys and belts from the states or are you going leadscrews?

Here are the slides for use. The larger ones are for the X-Axis and I think are designed to support 50kg+ each. I will pick them up from work once I get the paperwork sorted out. They are surplus...

Hello All,
below is a close up of the threaded rod and drive nut I will be using. Pretty basic, but it worked well for my prototype router. You can see where the end has been turned...
I forgot to mention that in the meantime I am building a CNC Foam cutter using the screws from my first CNC machine. See it in the CNC Foam cutter section of this forum.
