Re: No 5v on the STB5100 motion board?

Re: No 5v on the STB5100 motion board?

So I found 5v where its supposed to be by using the shield for the usb as the other lead. This is my third CNC control box build (first usb) and swear I can't figure out what's going on. It all acts...

No 5v on the STB5100 motion board?

I have a new STB5100 5axis USB MACH3 board. I can't get the steppers to turn. The DROs indicated movement, but the steppers just stay in hold.
I have doubled checked the wiring and the only thing I...
  4. UC100 upgrade made a huge difference, cool, but why ?

I spent hours trying to get my drives to function correctly. Could not get them over 35 IMP without stalling. Lots of noise and no torque at any setting. Steppers are good quality, drives are also...

    Re: Wire for stepper motors

Here is what I can tell you NOT to do. Don't buy the cheap aviation style connectors from China. The tabs are so small you can't really do any soldering, and the plastic outside breaks off just...

    Re: Confusing documentation and response.

"just make printer port pin 15 the E-stop in your control software
then the terminal labeled E-stop will be the E-stop"

Actually it turned out to be pin 13. A pin the manufacture says has...

    Re: Confusing documentation and response.

    See my reply.
The vendor is saying the doc is correct, and I'm wrong.

    Re: Confusing documentation and response.

The silkscreen has the screw terminals labeled EStop, A-Imt, z-lmt, x-lmt, y-lmt and GND.

I actually did like the vendor. They have a good reputation, I was trying to help.
    The response really...

    Confusing documentation and response.

Using an older Probotix PBX-2 BOB.
    Setting up the E-Stop.
Silkscreen has E-stop screw terminal identified. Doc shows its pin 10 on the pinout table, actual schematic shows the circuit to pin 15....
  10. Re: BOB has DIR,STP,GND,ENA driver has CP+,CP-,CW+,CW-,Rest-, Rest+.

    Thanks Jim !
  11. BOB has DIR,STP,GND,ENA driver has CP+,CP-,CW+,CW-,Rest-, Rest+.

    Probotix BOB has DIR,STP,GND,ENA outputs

    CW230 driver has CP+,CP-,CW+,CW-,Rest-, Rest+.

Spent hours looking for example, no can find.
    Need a cross reference I guess ?

    THANKS !

Re: Do I need an E-Stop switch?

So that may explain how I burnt up 3 drivers in 5 minutes, using the estop as a master (BOB, Power Supply, fan and LED transformer, all three drivers etc..) on/off switch ?
  13. Can I test BOB outputs using ground and output pins

I have a BOB that may be good, or may be bad. Can I simply test the board using the ground and pins to the drivers using Mach 3 to jog and watching for power on each pin ?
would I have to swap to...
  14. Re: Could it be the power supply ? Well apparently not

Spoke to the manufacture. Probotix, great guys. BOB (PBX2) is still in production, but the stepper drivers (side-step) are not. The BOB has inputs for the 24 volts, but with them disconnected, it...
  15. Could it be the power supply ? Well apparently not

I'll try to make sense of this but honestly its a bit of a baffler to me just to explain it.
Doing motor tuning of new to me, but very used CNC router. Nothing hooked up when I bought it.
    Get it...
  16. Re: "Geometric Robotics" CNC offerings on eBay - opinions?

Also funny that the Xzero website is almost empty. Read this post, went to the zxero web site, now think xzero is the one with the issues....

    Re: Eagle Plasma controller issues

Had similar issues, turned out to be the configuration file. Just using the arrow buttons gave wrong results.
Got that fixed (not eagles fault) and everything was great on testing dry runs, but as...
