You might be better served, pun intended, to use a flush trim router bit after rough installing the rubber to the racket..

Terrific info. Craig, thank you for posting your insights and knowledge, it is extremely helpful in understanding how the communication channel is working.

Thanks Craig.... after reading your post I'm understanding that Mach3 is a huge bottleneck??
If Mach3 runs at a max of 25kHz then is there no chance of the communication chain running faster than...
Thanks for the reply's. It seems I'm not getting far from the G540 and I do understand why, its been very reliable and is complete in a nice package, the parallel port is its only downfall.
Adam,
The G540 will remain on my original CNC as its up and running and doing well... assuming you're moving away from a G540 do you have preferences?
When looking at a BOB, it appears they all have...
Thanks for the reply LorenBMS. The problem with the G540 is the communication, parallel port, it just isn't viable and makes little sense to build a new system using it.
So, I'm thinking of using...

thanks,
I currently use a G540 on my CNC and have found it very reliable but I'm struggling with the parallel port connectivity and that its for 4 axis, 2 un-needed. I'm also design unaware, meaning the G540...
I'm going to attempt to automate a lathe and wanted some user input and experiences on what electronics I should use.

Due to the cost of having these items manufactured I will be re-evaluating my design..
Please consider this RFQ as complete.
Thanks I'll give them a shout.
Adam,
Added a few dimensions for reference.
Looking for 3/16 or 1/4 using a ferromagnetic metal, probably more in tune with a hobbyist since I'm only looking for a single run of 10 pieces.
Appreciate the reply Luke Peter, if I were shopping for a laser cutter are there hobbyist (less expensive) options available than the steel mill down the street, any services on the Net anyone knows...

I'm wanting to cut some inserts for my router table using 1/8" steel and I was wondering if anyone has had any success stories that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Great info about the dust bin I'll remember to use something beefy for chip collection!
Adam,
Gerry, I'm also leaning towards 5" and appears to be the recommended size base on Oneida's website.

It also seems to have a 6" IN and a5" OUT... curious why the differences if it's a 5"...
Thanks again for the follow up Lambodesigns... very helpful.
Adam,
I'm no designer but I would think that this section is going to be very weak with all of the downward force being applied at the bit.

Thanks for the info., did either of your DC get a change on the impeller or did you stay with the stock setup?
The unknown is what size cyclone I should go with... I was thinking the Oneida 6" and...
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I have limited shop space so I have to live with the noise and the exhaust form the DC.
I am planning on utilizing the Oneida for chip separation and then a...
I'm going to modify my Harbor Freight dust collector into a two stage and I'm looking for some insight into the best components to purchase.

That's a cool find... I wish I had know about those when rebuilding my Z I'd have picked one up.
Adam,
Just to close the loop on this question... changing the "Offset" was the cure.
Thanks for the help.
Adam,
I didn't think the OP had purchased anything yet...if he had then of course he'll need to match voltages and amperage.
All I was trying to say is that from a "package" deal, the G540 works, is...
