    Re: ShopMaster Sent the check

I for one if you researched and found that Shopmaster fits the requirements you need and budget think you did just fine. There is always someone with an ax to grind. I am happy with mine. Took some...
  7. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

BlackICE1, was right on in motor configuration and this is done per axis. I found in lathe mode doing threading operations I can hold 60 under load since it is such a light cut, and was needed so...
  8. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

Actually I did not turn off PID, I just changed the vfd settings to allow for manual controll using the knob. Then I adjust to desired rpm and fed back the turn rpm value using the laser tach into...
  9. Re: Problem with stiffness and quill movement

I had issues with taper cutting over distance with stock only in the headstock and in order to fix it I loosen the 4 bolts that hold down the headstock stock to base and was able to get it cutting...

    Re: Stiffness of milling head

When I received the machine, I saw what you are seeing on my 2014 model, the 5th column added support to to bottom (z) but was easily deflecting front to back (y), my solution was to build a frame...
  11. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

Well the shuttle acceleration setting is used in backlash movements and a Mpg shuttle controll. Have set for .004 on both mill which was original setting and now lathe creates a less jerky backlash...

  14. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

Fiero Addiction, did you change to 1:1 drive on both x and y? Where did you get the pulley for the y axis? JT is sending me for my x.
    Thanks

  15. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

Thanks to the info, and a couple talks earlier with JT, he is sending me new belt and pulley to get to 1:1 like mentioned here. He remembered someone mentioning using it, he just wasn't sure where so...
  16. Re: Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

    Hello,
This is all great info. When you mention to tweet the gcode smallblock I am not sure what I would be looking at, as when the wizard generates the code it is like you said, 500 rpm and if i...

    Re: Stiffness of milling head

    Hello,
What I did was build a square tube frame with gussets and mounted at the 4 corners and above the machine and then braced where the 5th column is so that when the 5th is tighten there is much...
  18. Re: Making a socket for the Lathe spindle nut.

As with any China built machine there are improvements that can be made. It has been said many times before, there needs to be clearance between the quill and bridge bore or things will bind. I knew...
  19. Re: Making a socket for the Lathe spindle nut.

    Hello,
Just to let you guys see, I placed holes at 12mm and 50mm on both sides at 60 degree angle. I am using custom brass dog set screws. Had to drop the bridge to get the ones on the motor side...
  20. Question on velocity and acceleration settings in mach3

    Hello,
I am looking to find out how far someone with a shopmaster with center x axis ballcrew has pushed the x and y axis velocity and acceleration settings in motor tuning screen in mach 3. My...
  21. Re: Looking to up size my balls.............. for my C7 ballscrews\nuts that is

    Hello,
I have done the same to my shopmaster cnc with c7 ballscrew as well. Each axis was different on size when I did the work. One started at .1245 and I was able to go to .1265 and the other...
  22. Re: Making a socket for the Lathe spindle nut.

    Hello,
When you say 40mm above it do you mean then 52mm from bottom for second hole? With that on mine I would run into the lock hardware on bridge/spindle area on my 2014 model not sure on others....
  23. Re: Making a socket for the Lathe spindle nut.

    Hello,
What size set screws did you use? I have been looking to do this myself but haven't decided what size I should go with.

  24. Re: PatriotCNC Spindle flex, Shoulder bolt fix, and Q's on overall setup.

I had done this with mine some time back. It does help with the spindle assembly rotating as well as it being affected by the pulley when the spindle not locked, it also pushes the whole assembly...
  25. Re: School me - CNC Circle cutting test. Mach3, Amoeba's for circles.

I use telescoping bore gauge with micrometer once you have a good repeatable method can hit a few tenths, and then I always verify with an inside mic or inside bore gauge.
  26. Re: School me - CNC Circle cutting test. Mach3, Amoeba's for circles.

Hello CG, I can run this im about a week when off bed rest. But I have had decent luck with circles once I setup backlash and motor speeds. Was running exact stop but now changed to cv mode too speed...
