Each toroid is rated 800VA so a total of 1600VA...plenty I would say...I used 14 guage insulated wire instead of magnet wire. So coupling might be and issue??

The stepper motors are rated 4.6 amps at 2.5 volts. So, with two windings energized... 2(4.6)*2/3 = 6.13 amps - that is about what I read when I measure the current with a multimeter. 6.13 amps...
