Been watching your ob14 build forever and I'm hoping to build one myself. I just completed a printrbot simple and am hoping to use it to print the parts for the ob14.. but I'm restricted...
Ok so I've been away from the whole Cnc/3d printer thing for a couple months. Now I wanna get a printer together. I have a couple arduino mega boards. A few nema17 steppers and belts/pullies. And a...
The top part that you actually touch when mounted is what actuates the micro switch making it a push on / push off

In homing and limits menu on mach there is a reverse box on that axis. Check it and it should move in the oposite direction.

If I'm not mistaken the top button part works somewhat like a retractable ball point pen. The bottom is infact a standard momentary micro switch

I think he plans to just use the magnets to trip the sensors

hay RMHCNC your pm inbox is full. clear it out and pm me ur email.. i got some stuff for ya..
Kinda.. the 3 wires on the factory potentiometer need to be tapped into with the g540 and the wiper wire needs a spst switch between the two signals and the common going to the kbic board.
Same...
G540. Hands down best option.

That's the plan for the moment.. I'm going to have a relay on the inhibit for when I'm running Cnc and a pair of toggle switches on the pannel for manual override.

Huh weird..
I started another thread in the gecko section and someone showed me a PDF on using the g540 with the sherline spindle.. no in between components.. it hooks up just like a vfd.
...
I was mistaken on my last post. Read info here to use that spindle with g540 controls.

Factory KBIC spindle control. Trying to get rpm control. I think I've figured it out with some help..

Thanks.. I think I searched here and on mach support but never thought to try google... hopefully this evening I can get it all dialed in..

Wow! Nailed it! Thanks.... Funny part is I think that's exactly how I have it hooked up except I removed the factory pot. I didn't do and adjustments in mach tho so that's probably why I have no...
The sherline spindle control is a kbic motor controller that functions in voltage follower mode similar to a vfd. Just not sure how to hook it up...

Fixed the limit/ e-stop issue.. but I still can't get spindle controls...

Ok I have gotten my g540 all wired up but I can't get my spindle working.. using the 3 vfd pins to replace the potentiometer on the sherline drive. I get no response.. I'm also attempting to use a...
I probably just switched 2 wires when hooking everything up.

Everything is hooked up. I need to figure out why my z limit/ home and my e-stop are switched but no big deal.. then just calibrate steps per. And spindle config and I'm running!

Yea now with that system and the other bits and pieces I have I should be able to get the coolant system wired in as well as home & limit switches and spindle control with rpm feedback. Also gonna...
Just ordered a g540, 3 320oz/in nema23 motors, a 48v 7.3a PSU, and new cables and couplers!

If I'm not mistaken the factory sherline driver is pretty basic and lacks inputs for home/limit switches or spindle control. I would suggest a g540 to replace it but there are lower priced options...
Does anyone have the amperage specs on the stock spectralight motors? Can't seem to find it anywhere..

I actually have one of these boards still.. maybe ill use it for something eventually.. thanks for posting that info.

When I was taking Cnc classes at the local community college we machined the pink foam in our Haas mills with out a problem.
Looking forward to seeing progress on this. I made 3 full sets of armor...
Looks like I may just be getting one of the pnp kits from cncrouterparts complete with 3 or 4 motors, cables, driver, and power supply.

Can my stock spectralight motors handle that voltage though?
