Hi,
Yes the price of the ATC Chinese spindles is coming down.
Since my spindle controller has decided to blow itself up, I need to attempt to repair it. If not I’m seriously considering one of...
Hi Craig,
Thanks, I DM I tried to sent went through.

Hi Craig,
I tried to send you a message but alas your inbox is full.
Could I ask you to snag one of the pumps for me?

Hi,
I seen a number of water cooled spindle systems where they use a closed loop gaming PC CPU water cooling system.
They seem to get mounted to the gantry of routers quite often.

Saved me a whole lot of typing.
Couldn’t agree more.

Hi John,
I’ll have a look over the weekend and have a good look. A Quick Look shed that there is an enable pin.
Hi John,
That may be possible although it could be requiring 0v to be applied if negative logic is used.
Or, it may require a charge pump signal (~10KHz).
Basically it is difficult to predict...
Hi John,
Is there an Enable switch on the controller to energize the steppers?
Also many controllers need the software to be running as it sends activates an enable line to the controller box to...
Hi,
There have been times when ie used two 7.3A 48v supplies to give a total of 14A.
In some cases I’ve ran the X and Y axis of one, and the Z and A of the other. The other configuration is...
Hi,
It can be either. If the power supply needs cooling, then its placement may be decided on how to plan to cool it, etc.
this is one layout I used. ...
Hi,
Thanks for your input. Yes I went through a couple of ShuttleXpress units before I designed the Shuttle Jogger. I was getting swarf under the buttons stopping them from being able to be pressed....
No different Peters. [emoji3]

Hi Craig,
Funny you talk about nerves. My little 7x14 lathe can rapid at 6m/min.
Watching the cross slide scream towards the chuck and stop with the parting blade 3mm from the spinning chuck...
Craig,
Hats off to you! Not many people understand the effort and persistence required to diagnose and solve such issues.
Well done.

Stepper motors are slow speed devices. This is due to the torque of the motor reducing with increasing speed. This occurs once the speed reaches around 400rpm. You can move this knee point to a...
Why is speed important to you?
What speed are you after?

Do you know what drive train you are planning to use, and what resolution you need?
If so you can calculate what speed you need. Chances are the stepper speed won’t be as issue.
Your question...
Hi All,
I'm interested in finding out how many people are using the ShuttleXpress or ShuttleXpress Pro as their CNC Pendant as many of the CNC software controllers have drivers and plugins for...
It’s the “flat” that they put on the shaft for the set screw to fasten against.

The main reason was to attach an encoder to the stepper on a handle for manual adjustment.
Note that it should not be used as a drive shaft as the bearing at that ind is not up to it.

Cutting down the nut like that is fairly common. I did that on the X-axis of my TM20VL mill

Ok. Do you know what frequency (step ) to voltage board you are using?
Also, most CNC frequency to voltage converters use a steps per setting of 20000.
Another thing to try is setting the step...
We need more information. What breakout board are you feeding the UC100 into? And, what PWM base frequency for the spindle speed signal does the breakout board require?

Yes, the first image was just prior to installation in the router and wiring up of the motors, spindle switches, etc.
The 2nd image was it installed and during setup.

I recently built a Masso touch controller for a full sheet router. It went well. The Masso Touch controller is very easy to use.
I’d recommend it. Also there is a huge amount of resources on...
Craig,
Yeah, I think it’s a great idea, been doing for around 25 years.
I’m just struggling to understand your tone with anyone who has a different view.

Craig,
You didn’t look at my schematic. [emoji3]

Unless you have slaved axes you only need 1 input for all the home switches. In fact y can have...
It replaces the switch and activates the input. Basically it rules out any issues with your switch wiring.
