Glad you got it to work! I have my probe on tool 1 so I use a height gauge to measure it manually. But I still think I could use the program to measure it.

Maybe it doesnt work in MDI mode? I'm happy to try stuff on my control or take pics of certain parameters if you need. LMK.
Yeah I’ve been using mine for years and it works perfectly. All my tool offsets update fine.
I dont have macros enabled on mine, so I had to write a separate program to measure each tool. I guess you could combine all 20 programs into one if u wanted to measure all the tools at once.
Let...
I do have a tool setting device. It was one off Aliexpress I think - similar to this one as theyre all the same: ...
Here are my probing routines. Because I dont have macros, I had to write a probing routine for each scenario, and one for each tool number to measure the tools.

To add the tool setter I used the built in relay in the picture - the far right one. You can see my 3 wires attached red/grn/yellow. 451034
I took the +12v pin from P22 (pin1 I think) and sent...

The wiring is pretty simple. P22 has 4 pins. Only the top 2 pins are needed. I think the top (Pin 1) is +12v I cant remember. Then Pin 2 is gnd - if you short the 2 pins you get the...
It was kinda ghetto, but what I did was take a know bore and probe to center it. Then manually jogged over and read how much it moved in each direction.
I entered the probe offsets x-/x+ etc,...
You mean the quick connect - yeah for sure. Prob not as much of an issue since it doesnt have a tool changer. But on the haas its nice to leave the probe in the changer.
This thread was immensely helpful in setting up a cheapo probe on my 2013 VF1 (no macro option). Rather than drop the $8k to the HFO for a renishaw I figured I'd try this out.
I also used one of...
Bill - I dont have that problem at all with my tool table. I have to double check which version I am on, but it's definitely 2.1.xxx
I've already forgotten so much about PP in the past 2 yrs. . .
Got it. I think I am on 2.1.2. I have to double check. May have to peruse the newer versions, but I am so rusty on looking at that stuff I dont want to have to relearn everything!
Yeah, I sorta dropped off the radar for a while. No particular reason. I did build a new garage/shop so that was part of the down time.
I was thinking of updating my PathPilot software, and...
Steve - looks great! I like having the notch in the back - much easier to remove! Why didn't I think of that?
Nice machine! Blaine in addition to cnczone head over to the automatecnc Facebook group as there’s a lot more activity over there. https://m.facebook.com/groups/369938000088724
Done. Thanks for the explanation! Also my mi-8 came brand new with the manual so that helped.
It's a bit more accurate, but it started out pretty darn good. hopefully the mi-8 will prolong the...
Excellent! Thanks for sharing that. Hopefully will have a chance this weekend to hook mine up.
Pops - I have my mi-8 arriving today tomorrow. Can you give a quick rundown on the connections as I have the MP3 as well - saves me from having to think!
Thx!
Great work Scott! I need to update mine to 2.02
I never got the shift-alt to work. Does the ctrl-sift-x work to exit out of whatever loop u are having?
Rick mine doesn’t shut down either - I hit the menu bar and tell Linux to shut down. When I get home from vacation I will look into updating to pp 2.02 and seeing if I can fix the shutdown issue.
Good luck!!
Let me know if you have questions.
That is awesome! How did you program he Siemens PLC?
This forum is a little sparse now that the facebook group is up and running. Head over to the AutomateCNC group on Facebook and there are guys there w/ the VMC425.
Rick - probably- but I didn’t not know for sure. If it installs easily then yes. If it doesn’t, don’t screw around just get a new mobo off eBay and move on. Integrated graphics is your friend for...
Rick that’s a nice looking probe and pretty reasonable $. I forget which pin I think it’s pin 17 - but check the hal file. If it’s not powered then one pin to gnd and the other to pin 17 of the BOB.
Nice Bill! One thing on my pulsar that I did differently than the stock tormach was tie all the limit switches together. So all limit switches use only one input. That is reflected in my hal...
Bill - theres a bit of work involved going from PP 1.9.x to PP2.0 therefore I would start out w/ PP 2.0 as 1.9 is basically obsolete.
In PP 2.0 the left shift + Alt trick is supposed to work, but...
My bad maybe it was sagreen who has the servo machine?
