Same problem. After checking T-mods, motor wiring etc. I tried swapping top pcb's between Z and X. It caused a breaker to pop and I could not press STAND BY button...
Thanks for all replies guys!
This forum is really great!
I have been running the mill 10 hrs per day more or less non stop since my first post, so I am sure you are right about the grease packed...
Hi Colin,
Thanks for the info! As it is a retrofitted mill I am not sure it lubes the same way as the original. There is a Bijour lube tank on the left side, but I think it only lubes the ways....
Bob, I am in Thailand, so save your phone money, but thanks!
It is retrofitted with a Centroid control and a Bijour lube pump, but I thought that was only for the way lube.

Hi Bob,
thanks for replying! I really dont know more than what is written on the side, "Series 1 CNC". Please have a look at the attached picture.
Cheers,
Andy
I have no manual for this mill and it seems like the spindle oil is dripping out near the spindle nose. There is no logical fill point or sight glass to check the oil level, but I am sure I am...
Thanks Neal!
Any idea why the SSR on the 1220 DC ps keeps burning?
Maybe this is the point where I should stop asking questions and just swap out the DC PS but, living on a coconut island, we...
Hi Neal,
This is the 2nd time what I think is the K1 is literally burning up on my VMC. first time I thought it was my fault as I was experimenting a bit, but this time it happended while the...
I wish it was that easy! If I disconnect the wire I cant load the program as both Reset and Cycle start buttons are needed to start the transfer.
It is hard to try to track down damaged IC's on...
I opened the pendant and traced the wires from the reset and cycle start button. I found that one black wire was cut (deliberately) by pliers halway between the reset button and the board. Just to...
Just a heads up on buying tooling from Bob Siebert in Dayton Ohio. He advertises toolholders on ebay under the ebay name tools4umachinest. I paid over 3000 USD for a CAT 40 toolholder package 6...
Hi Stefan,
Thanks for replying. The lathe dont use air. Only hydraulics and that is fine.
I checked for fuses but could not find anything. It seems like some type of interlock, but it has none...
Nothing what soever. I had the shop closed, went on holiday, came back and cycle start dont work. It seems like also the reset button dont work as I cant clear buffer memory in edit mode. this...
We have a Mori Sieki SL3B with Yasnac 2000B that right of a sudden dont want to start when Cycle Start is pressed. Every thing else works, no alarms so not sure what to do. I dont have service manual...
I am trouble shooting my 4020 and have no experience with Fadals.
I suspect the Z amp card might be faulty and have tried using the Y amp for the Z motor. It works fairly ok. In order to see if I...
Right. It is 23 mV so a bit more and now I only feed the cage from this power supply. The rest of the machine that needs 5V get it from the PC PS.
It seems like everything is a bit shaky and just on...
I know the power should be off for continuity test, but just noticed this and thought it would indicate something. The same test under power on the 110V fuse does not pick anything up. If I put the...
Hi Gar, Thanks for the reality check. I am still not sure the original PS is defect. that does have a 5V trim pot that I have open full whack.
Also the PC power supply will not carry all cards in...
If I feed each of the 5 wires from the CNC that requires 5VDC with its own red 5V wire from the PC power supply the load drops the voltage to average 0,03 V per card. that is CPU, VIDEO, INTERFACE,...
Hmm. It powers up but still the same problem. Ok I dont have any AC ripple on the 5VDC that I can see, but the voltage drops from 5,3VDC with out load to 4,6VDC when it is hooked up to the CNC. this...
Are you sure you mean 50 Watt? That doesnt seem like much. The lowest I could find sitting in a really crap PC is 450 W.
When you say bundle wires, do you mean you are using all the red 5VDC's...
I am halfway there. I just ripped the PSU out of a dead PC and it is 600W so should do just to see if it works. If I can get the mill on-line and slowly jog an axis at a time I might just get a 1KW...
Tempting, but I have the old style with a big wire spool. I have tried to find specs on it, but all current literature from Fadal are for newer machines. Mine is from 1993. I would need to run the...
Hi Elwood,
This sounds like my set up. Here we get 380VAC from the wall so I use a standard step down transformer for our Japanese machines that usually run on 200VAC. We get 195 - 220VAC from the...
Thanks for the info on the vector drive. Even if the DC power supply is bad I will have problems getting the right voltage if I jumper the transformator to feed 230VAC to the spindle inverter. With...
Were you able to fix the power supply or did you have to replace the whole thing?
The machine was running right until they shipped it so it is a bit strange as I would imagine this type of error...
Thanks Gar!
The transformer is tapped to give 240VAC so your maths as up, however is this ok for the vector drive? The various manuals say to feed either 230VAC or 240VAC 3 phase to the vector...
I just got an old 4020HT with 88HS from -93 installed in the shop and cant make it run.
I seem to have too low voltage from the DC power supply on 5VDC, but -12V and +12V are ok. the max I can get...
Hi there!
The ATC can index the magazine, but does not stop unless "cancel" is pressed on the Micon 8. I think the problem is either a relay or a limit switch for counting tool pots or stopping.
