looks like your cutting tool is above centerline. Are your HHS bit the same size as the carbide tool holder?

I got to meet Don Bailey, owner of suburban tool.... great guy!
Well, IMTS 2022 was cool. THK girls were smokin' hot
Ok, the largest machine show in North America and I'm the only one going... I wasn't looking for a ride! LOL
Who's going?
I converted my G0704 with clearpath servos... 3 servos, cables and power supply: A bit more than $1500... I'm really happy with them, good luck!
After that, I wouldn't tell you even if I knew... WOW!
build machines like this guy....

I beat myself up too. Bottom line: you did a great job!
I've posted on your thread, we've "talked" before. I always liked your discussions. I agree machine level is certainly important, and I agree the machine is pretty decent as is. I'm building on a...
You're sort of right as I am going to install diagonal bracing from the column to the plate as the column/base connection is the weakest link in the chain. But mass was the real objective :)
I asked one question in the first post "Anyone else add a plate?"... I didn't ask "What is anyone's opinion about adding a plate?". Either you've tried this or you have not. Thanks for the opinions,...
Mass, it sure has cut down the vibration
My shop is a 10'x14' metal skinned yard shed. I insulated and finished the inside. It sits on a concrete pad that I didn't want to build on, rather set the shop on. That way when I move, I can take...
dazp1976 ,
I'll stick with my plate rather than "wooden strips". I'm sure you would have chosen other parts for my build other than my clearpath servos, Hicon Integra 6 axis controller, Kurt...
maybe you didn't read my last post?
the idea was added MASS and it gives me a stupid solid place to attach diagnal braces to the column, plus if I want to add a tool changer- rather than attach it to the column, it can mount to the...
I'm adding a 2"x18"x16" A36 plate between the G0704 and the stand.
I had it blanchard ground on both sides. Anyone else add a plate?
your tooling is going to cost more for starters... workholding too
Real industrial machines have double nutted ballnuts, by adjusting the thickness of the shim in between the two nuts is how they get the backlash so low. It's not just common, it's pretty standard...
what kind of benchtop machine do you have that has a fanuc control?
Why post this in the benchtop area? Call a Deawoo dealer, you wouldn't take your Lambo to a shade-tree mechanic... unless it was stolen or you're a big time cheapskate... Just sayin'...
I have three clearpath servos with one IPC5, It only has two power ports, but splice two servos into one, no problem...
thank you, Matt
you'll be putting that in the lathe... lol
It's cool to see the machining hobby support other areas of interest. Well played!
Cool car! That reminds me of the big slot cars of the 1960's. I bet that's a blast to drive :)
Yes, Clearpath servos are a bit salty... I bought 3 for my G0704 plus the 75 volt power supply and cables (totaling more than the G0704). But they work better than steppers, just like ballscrews are...
ClearPath servos...
