UPDATE: The Mocon board did not fix the problem. They reloaded all software etc. and the problem is still there.
I see what the problem is however. Here is what I found.

My 14 year old V-2 -Z- axis crashed last week for no reason. I was running a program with
the same tools and same program I had run for weeks, no changes. After it crashed, I looked
to make sure...
Intentional, Yes.
Offset is correct.
I haven't tried. I guess I'll have to call HAAS. IT should go to the correct depth.
My VF-2 is tapping deeper than the programmed depth. I don't use a spring type tool holder. I use a collet chuck.
Rigid tapping is active.
If I program a depth of 0.440, it taps 0.590 (approx.)...
Thank you very much! You've really been agreat help to me and I appreciate it. I'm fine with XP too but MS is going to stop supporting it soon and I need to buy a new computer and it's hard to find...
Are you sure it will run in Win 7? I need to buy a new computer so I want configure it correctly. I also run XP but I want to move on to Windows 7.
That's the question I have. If so, does it work with 32 bit or 64 bit? I appreciate your help! FWIW, V10.0 was released in 1997.
Hi Ken, I'm also looking at the ST-20. Do you know what collet closer options are available? Can you tell me what "special deal" you were given? You can send me a PM if you like. I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
Do you know if this can be ordered with a 16C collet closer? I see 5C listed but no mention of 16C.
I've been looking at purchasing a lathe for several months and now Haas has just released a new "special series" lathes.
It looks like the ST-20 has 15" max. cutting diameter but at the bottom of...
Thank you for the replies on the subject. I probably will end up using the chuck for that part.
I do make parts that will necessitate using a 5C collet chuck. How much of a pain is it to remove...
I am in the process of putting together options for a HAAS SL-20 build. One of the main parts I will be machining is 4.000 inches in diameter by 1.100 inch long Aluminum. I would like to grip the...
Thank you for that bit of info. Are you also able to face the the entire surface from the center of the part all the way out to the O.D. of 12.5?
I'm considering purchasing an SL-20 and one of the jobs I do requires I just take a finish pass at 12.250" on the O.D. The part is only 1.00" thick and mounted on a spud, it's a very light cut.
I...
I'm looking to buy either a new or used SL-20. Is HAAS offering any incentives to purchase a new machine from them? THere are plenty of used machines for decent prices.
I also have to sell one of...
I'm only finish machining this part on the lathe and holding it with a 6" spud in a 10" chuck but I could also use a faceplate (if applicable). My main concerns are with the part hitting the machine...
Thanks Geof but I think I'd rather go for a machine that will perform auto tool changes. I could add on the turret option to the TL-2 but then it will only turn 8" diameter, plus the price goes up...
I'm finish machining a 12.250 inch O.D. part made from either alum 6061-T6 or acrylic so I want a HAAS lathe that will be able to turn the O.D. and face it as well. The part is 3 inches thick.
I...
You may need a null modem adapter. Are you using a straight through wired cable?
I had issues with both of my new VF-2's back in 2000. They performed multiple vibration tests on both machines because I was getting a crap finish in the -y- axis only on both machines, very strange...
You'd be better served cutting it on the band saw after machining the part complete. Following that, you could facemill both upper and lower parts to finish size and deburr them on the CNC at the...
As was previously stated you should use M97 and "N" in front of the subprogram number. I corrected it, see bold text. Antoher tip I would offer is to try and match the subprogram number with the tool...
I thought about the sidewinder but my coolant supplier mention the Skimerator was a better value and offered to let me try one out. I should receive it next week.
Are you using a bunch of aerators...
Thanks JoBwan for the suggestion regarding foaming. I have anti foaming agent but if the coolant becomes contaminated with too much tramp oil it really doesn't help. I'm getting a Skimerator on loan...
Are you cutting the part using G91 or just using G91 to increment the angular rotation? I always try to avoid using G91 unless I absolutely have to. You might want to try using a positive angular...
Has anyone used this oil separator (or any of the Zebra models) to separate tramp oil in their HAAS machine? I need to find something that effectively maintains proper coolant balance because I don't...
