Got it apart, removed 10 gals of chips (4 years worth) & got everything cleaned up for reassembly tomorrow. I am going to use 4200 to seal it back up. Check back in 4 years & see how that worked out!...

deeper cut was the trick, if it's not making chips it's making a curly-cue that is nothing like the razor wire i was getting. did test runs with different inserts & the cheapos last almost as long as...
I am making a much better finish now, the higher speed/feed was the trick but also using 2 tools a rough & a finish made for much more consistent results. This was from 3/8" stock, now i have to go...
so try cutting the 1018 dry? Which insert shape did you use?
Everyone says "yeah that's tuff stuff to cut" but that doesn't help me get a better finish. :drowning:
The high dollar iscar fared no better. so I figured if i'm gonna burn up inserts they're gonna be the cheap ones! almost done with this batch. I'll school up some more before the next. Thanks for all...
I should have confessed that I am/was a mill guy. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this surface feed (S###) & and it's relation to feed rate (F.00##). My main issue is breaking the chips. I'm...
so you saying max the "clamp" rpms @ 6000 (max on sl-10) & run 600sfm?
Starting dia. is .6875. finish dia. is .372. turning down 2" 304ss
Doing better today 330sfm & F.0045 .07 deep. I'll try the .05 doc & speeding up the feed tomorrow. Still making razor wire. Also redirected the coolant so it is spraying up at the cutting point. That...
i'm going .035 DoC ....making razor wire
addendum: what is the difference between M1 & M2 inserts?????????
what grade insert so i can cross reference. I'm getting maybe 25 parts per edge. :drowning: 100 per insert. I'm gonna translate your feeds tomorrow & try it.
thanks
I have this choice of inserts on hand:
CNMG-432-TF IC807 iscar
CNMG-432-PP IC9250 iscar
CNMG-432 TCN55 interstate
roughing If I get it to break the chips it burns up inserts, if too slow it...
go to parameter 57 scroll down to next page, m19 should be there with a "T" next to a "0", hilite the "0" & hit Estop. type "1" hit enter. reset Estop. now the m19 option is "on" most new machines...
Kind of my bad....I didn't delete the o9000 files (after backing up of course). Turn off setting 23 to see them. You are left with a o00000 file that is a default file.....then you reload the o9000...
So what causes the corrupt program in the 1st place? this has happened 2x to me;-/......when i copy to clip board & paste to another program & gibberish pops up....anyone else this problem with your...
Haas says you have to delete ALL programs to get red of the alarm. that is the problem last (only) program is going to be active & i can not delete it. Hopfully the HFO will have my tech there at 8...
This is the second time I have had this happen. After copying a section of code to the clipboard & then pasting it to another program it pastes as gibberish & I get a 212 alarm. You then are directed...
Typical, Our new SL-10 is .004 small EVERY morning. In X never in Z. Thermal comp is weird. I don't use it anymore. It only gave me .002 & I need .004. I use a warm up prog & then check the 1st part....
u
I some how corrupted a program I was working on.
Lessons learned: Back up your programs AS YOU GO to a thumb drive & a shop/office PC. To clear a corrupt program alarm nightmare (new HAAS SL-10)...
We found a stop that goes in the spindle. Gives me what I need. We got it at MSC I'll post the part # tomorrow. I'm getting the SL10 to do what I want most of the time. Using the IQC free trial....
so any tips? When i've milled it I went fast with no coolent unless chips were a problem. rpm & surface speeds needed. thanks
what collet stop are you using. I need to rig 3j's with a stop
you can buy that solenoid from granger or mcmaster i think WAY cheaper than HFO Is off shelf air valve. I agree with all the clean is good comments. A clean machine is a happy machine:-)
Very important to keep clean & oiled. When you get that holder hot it wants to stick & never leave a tool in the spindle over night.
