Is it possible to post a youtube link that takes you to the EMC group? It is impossible to find otherwise....
I was looking for a youtube link to the youtube group EMC, that is mentioned in the...
The 30F4012 has built in provision for the quadrature input and hardware counter for the input from the encoder.
the 16F pics do not have this.
The present design relies on the op-amp power stage to look after current limiting. The dsPic controller outputs a pwm signal which is filtered to a voltage proportional to the required output...
There is some further development on this project under way.
I have a working prototype of a higher current version that uses two op-amps in parallel to increase the current capacity of the drive....
I have 2 of these running the X and Y on my cnc router.

You can start from anywhere in a gcode program if you are using the axis gui.
I think it is in the "machine" menu??? I will have a look tonight and let you know.
because you have a very slow speed limit, "The max speed my these drives and motors can support is about 2000hz" would you not just set the base period to something real slow? If you turn off the...
I have used a heater fan motor from a wrecked Torota as a servo motor.
Tons of torque, very little cogging.
Had to beef up the drives cause the motors want close to 20 amps at high...
I don't have access to my machine right now, Will check when I get home and post the exact configuration, but you have to connect in the .hal file
parport.0.Pin-10-in to iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in

check out Nook Industries. They have some useful calculators for Critical Speed, Nut PV and power requirements.

Check out McMaster-Carr. I purchased what they call "Modified Acme Thread" rods with wear compensating nuts.
A bit pricy but they come in 6 foot lengths and are worth every penny.
The rods I...
I have been told you risk demagnatizing the stepper motor if subjected to serious overcurrent.
That said My nema23 size steppers run very hot at the rated current.
My stepper motors are 8 wire...
I have been using the "stock timeout version" here for some time now and it has worked perfectly and the "timeout" has not been a problem. It all depends on if there is enough "gear reduction" in...
Here is my version of Alan's board Have a working board. Works great.
I am salvaging 20mhz crystals off of old 10meg ISA network cards. so far I have not had any that did not work.
The LMD18245 requires input on the control (M) pins to set the output current. The "M pins" on the LMD (4,6,7,8) should get clocking signals when the motor is moving.
Have you verified you are...
I thought I would share a couple pictures of My PICStep Controller.
I am a fan of pcb milling and cut one of PsyKotyk's boards except I put the 5V reg back on the board as my system needs it...
groung the enable pin to enable the drive. Pin 1 is pulled high to 5v by a 10K resistor. Jump it to ground will turn on the drive.
Thanks..I would prefer to use the drive with out the timeout. There is a disable pin on the servo drives this will be working with that is controlled by a switch on the control panel and by EMC2...
If the drive is in the correct mode a move of one inch should result in the same number of revolutions as the pitch of the lead screw and the carradge should move one inch.
on this machine a 1...
Using pcb-gcode and the free Eagle pcb program here and I love it.
Thanks for the reply. I was trying the "Non Auto Shutdown" version. After your post I give the "Auto Shutdown" version a try and it works correctly. So looks like only the "Non Auto Shutdown"...
I am trying to V2 working. It is running but the only mode available is the 1/16 step the mode jumpers seem to have no effect????
I do not seem to be able to get it to change micro step mode???
The jumpers hace no effect???
In the source there is only one dac table for 1/16 mode
I really need this thing to 1/4 step.
In Alans design the DACRef pin (pin-14) is connected to 5V is this required as it is not connected to anything in the clone board????
A while back I ran into an issue with the 16F628A not programing properly.
I don't remember the issue. We were using firmware designed for the 16F627 as I recall and there was something different...
